Seducing the Wolf by Maureen Smith

From the award-winning author of INFERNO comes the latest sizzling installment in the Wolf Pack series

From puppy love to scorching seduction...

As Manning Wolf knows all too well, you never forget your first crush. Years ago he lost his heart to sweet, brainy Taylor Chastain. When a devastating tragedy forced them apart, Manning went on to become the powerful CEO of a biotechnology company. He’s got the world at his feet and can have any woman he wants…except the one he loved and lost.

When a chance encounter brings him face to face with Taylor, Manning swears that fate has smiled upon him. His shy childhood sweetheart is now a captivatingly beautiful woman who takes his breath away. He wants her back in his life—and in his bed—but ghosts from the past still linger, and it doesn’t help that Taylor has a boyfriend. Manning must convince her that they belong together, or risk losing her forever. But as their rekindled attraction ignites into a scorching affair, he can only wonder…who’s seducing whom?

I was eagerly anticipating the release of this book, and I'm so happy it surpassed expectations. I found myself close to years at some parts, and couldn't keep the smile off my face at others. This story had the perfect balance of heartfelt family moments and steamy romance. I'm so happy to support a talented black author like Maureen Smith. Definitely worth the extra cost!

What a fabulous read! This book came out a little later than originally planned, but it was so worth the wait! Life does indeed happen and so many things are out of our control. This is one of the most well written books I have ever read. This book evoked a lot of emotions. I cried, I laughed, I got angry! The love between Taylor and Manning was palpable from the second they saw one another! Loved their honesty with one another,e ven when they really didn't want it! I love the flash backs. What a great way to fill in details and help us to understand how they got to where they are. The relationships between the characters were so real. The dynamics between Taylor, Tru and their parents were heart wrenching. The love between the Wolf family members was such a source of comfort. Some of the scenes had me putting the book down! Others had me gripping the book tighter and fighting back tears. The sex scenes were well written and so sensual. The passion jumped off the pages! Any author who can evoke such emotions from his/her readers wrote a phenomenal book. MAUREEN SMITH THIS BOOK IS PHENOMENAL!!! You truly brought Manning and Taylor to life! I loved the Epilogue as well. You handled the delay with class and I loved how you addressed Manning and Taylor''s younger days. I cannot wait for the upcoming books in the series. So many questions/issues to be addressed! Asha, Sterling, Tru/Simona/Hayden, Navarro and of course the rest of the Morehouse 9!

Was very excited for the release of this book. Had waited and waited, constantly checking the website.   But was sorely dissappointed with this book.  I did like the flashbacks but still felt something was missing.   Some may like the vulgar language, but not me!  Really, really did not like that. It was unnecessary and took  away from the storyline.  As much as I anticipated it, would not have purchased had I known. Won't purchase another title until I can read some of it first.

Seducing the Wolf is a second chance love story. Manning and Taylor were high school sweethearts who were separated when Taylor moves away when they were 16 years old. Twenty plus years have passed when they run into each other by happenstance one morning at a hotel coffee shop. Manning is sneaking out of said hotel after a one night stand. Taylor, a renowned violinist, is visiting Atlanta as an artist-in-residence at a local university. Of course, Taylor and Manning never forgot one another and the love they felt for one another as teens hasn't gone away. The only snag -- Taylor has a serious boyfriend! What I liked We first met Taylor and Manning as teens in love in Inferno. Taylor and Manning were well-drawn and their arc is believable. I loved the history between them and how that leads them to who they are as adults in present day. Not only do these two share the sweet innocence of young love, they share a very sad past around a life-changing event that lead to their break-up long ago. There's a healthy dose of flashbacks to their past in STW to help us understand their journey too. Although each book can stand on its on, this series is more family saga a la the Westmorelands or Madarises by Brenda Jackson than 100% stand alone novel. There's a deep interconnectedness of these stories; previously introduced or new secondary characters pop up to add a voice of reason or humor at just the right time. Also, there's something about each secondary character that intrigues the reader just enough to keep the new stories coming. What I didn't like The cheating storyline. From the moment Taylor and Manning meet again, I figured the story was going to take this route unfortunately. My issue isn't with the actual cheating per se; it's more how it was done here. We are primed and ready to hate Aiden immediately; Adien is painted as the most insecure, possessive, distrustful boyfriend on earth as soon as he learns of Taylor and Manning's past and it only gets worse as the story progresses. In order to make Taylor's cheating on Aiden with Manning more palatable and her breaking up with Aiden more understandable, Ms. Smith turns Aiden into a cheating liar as well. I've seen this too many times in romance novels. One love interest is made into the bad guy so the other can be the heroine's white knight. It wasn't necessary to turn Aiden into a pariah, IMO. Aiden doesn't hold a candle to Manning, not because he cheats or lies, but because Taylor doesn't love Aiden the way she loves Manning -- point blank period. End of story. Let that stand on its own, no need to sully it. I could nitpick about some of the dialogue being a bit cheesy and forced, but that was a minor issue to the aforementioned. Overall, another hit by Ms. Smith. The year plus wait was worth it and I can't wait to read Manning's brothers' stories in the future.

It was just ok for me. The story seemed drawn out and some elements were overkill. The over possesiveness of Manning and the cheating on Taylor's part were turn offs for me. The story didn't seem very realistic, but then again this is fiction. Maybe next time for me, but I'm glad others enjoyed it.

A wonderful and romantic story about a second chance at love; I loved this story it was a great read. Maureen Smith gave the readers a nice long read that left no questions unanswered about Manning and Taylor's Journey back to each other. I LOVE EVERYTHING she puts out. In this book she takes you back a couple years instread of placing this one behind Lexi and Q. I was perfectly fine with that. It was almost like the hidden story. Almost giving a glimpse of the secrets that are all throughout the book. If you love Mrs. Smith you will not be disappointed. Another GREAT read!
