Can their love exist in different worlds? Luca Boldor, abandoned and unacknowledged by his English father as a child, is a Roma lord who has fought to protect and feed his aging tribe since he was fifteen. A battle with Marko, a rival lord, and his tribesmen has left him injured and near death, far from his encampment and nearly unconscious on the doorstep of the late Earl of Orwell’s estate. Lady Patience Blakwell, the young dowager duchess, is too compassionate to leave a man to die at her door, even a Gypsy. She tends his wounds, cleaning, and stitching, then watching by his bedside through the night never realizing that Luca’s presence places her household in danger from Marko who is intent on finding and killing him. Her stepson, Crispin, has the same cruel and controlling nature as his father. This, plus rumors he hears of a Gypsy man visiting the manor from servants loyal to him, make him accuse Patience of orchestrating his father’s death. In control of the finances of the estate and the servants, Crispin intends to deliver Patience to the constables for murder if she will not bend to his will. Luca is determined to protect her from her enemies but his feelings are stronger than gratitude for saving his life and rival his feelings for his tribe. Josie Riviera has created another beautiful romance spanning the Romani culture and the world of English nobility. Luca and Patience must overcome their tragic pasts to have a future together. I liked Patience’s inner strength and determination in every situation at a time in history where oppression was women’s constant companion. This was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading other books in the Seeking series.

A unique and very well written inspirational romance overcoming cultural differences The head of a gypsy tribe and a widowed English countess worlds collide in this unique story. I haven’t read a story like this and was captivated from page one. The two main characters are so different from each other yet so alike. Wonderful layers to the characters and to the story. Very well written. I liked the characters. I really felt the emotions of the characters. Enjoyed learning about the gypsy life which was thoroughly researched. This sweet, Christian romance will warm your heart and leave you so happy you had the experience of reading it.

Seeking Patience by Josie Riveira Starts with praise from others and reviews. Starts in England 1813 Luca was just looking for food for his tribe....her life goal is to help others and serve God. His body is carried into her house and she tends to him. He appears to be sickly, can't walk and is a gypsy. He has nightmares since he was 3 on a fox hunt with his father.... Love that there is talk of sewing, afghans as I use my hands also. Wonder what patterns were like then? She draws on God to help protect Luca from Marco the black enemy by quoting Bible verses. Love gift he made her for protecting and healing him...Luca remembers things about his English father when he was three and he was told he was dead... As the story goes on we find out why Luca is in the area and why Patience has to be very careful as some servants report back to Crispin her stepson who wants it all-who can take all her dwellings and lands away from her. Love how this all comes together, surprising! I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Lady Patience is a widow who lives in near poverty. Married to a cruel man who died after being beaten, she loves on the whims of her stepson. She hears a noise and opens the door to find a badly hurt man. She brings him in to discover that he is Luca, leader of a caraway of Gypsies. He has been hurt by a rival who wants to see him dead. He is half Gypsy, half English. He believes himself to have been deserted by his father and feels resentful. While hiding in Lady Patience's house, she and Luca become involved in a relationship. She has a secret. Will he able to overcome it ? Will he stay with her or go back with his caravan? I liked the story. It was well written. The heroine was very forgiving. The hero was arrogant and very full of himself. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review and no compensation otherwise. The opinions expressed are my own.

Another Josie Riviera book kept me up way too late! A fascinating story of love, romance, rejection and forgiveness. The gypsy and the countess were both wounded souls who could save each other. This story reflects a great deal of research on the author's part. Ms. Riviera has written a fascinating story. I was amazed at how well she resolved all points in the story. I highly recommend this book.

The story was ridiculous. The dialogue repetitive. The characters flat. Luca, who was the "hero" did nothing but walk to and fro, stumble in his weakness and was no hero to the woman he supposedly loved. He was an indecisive wimp. I am used to authors who really draw you in to the story and charachters. This book was terribly lacking.

Luca Boldor is an outcast because of his half-gypsy, half-English blood. He desperately needs help, he's seriously injured and his enemy is hunting him. He goes to an imposing English home seeking assistance. Lady Patience Blackwell provides him aid and comfort. She knows it will put her and her servants in danger, but she won't turn him away. This one act of kindness changes both of their lives. What happens next is romantic and touching. Luca harbors bitterness toward the English because of their cruelty and prejudice toward the Romany. Lady Patience changes his beliefs. Her stepson is accusing her of murdering her husband. She's in an untenable position, but she won't be cowed. I liked her and her determination to face her problems. As these two spend time together, they learn to trust and care about each other. The setting and the description of the gypsy life add to the story. The characters became real people and I cared for them. I wanted them to be together and find love and happiness. Josie Riviera has written a uplifting romantic tale that I enjoyed. The story is well plotted and has surprising twist that caught me by surprise. This is the first book that I've read by this author, but it won't be the last. I received a copy in exchange for an honest and unscripted review.

Lady Patience is a widow who is scraping by on her measly allowance given to her by her cruel husband’s even crueler heir, who also happens to be her stepson. Yet, she somehow manages to run her estate as well as can be expected. It isn’t without its stresses though as her stepson watches her relentlessly, waiting for her to make a mistake so he can use it against her. So when a handsome gypsy lands at her doorstep, broken and bleeding, she must make a choice. Does she help the Gypsy man and face the potential consequences if her stepson finds out? Or does she turn the handsome stranger away and send him on his way? This was a great story that I finished in just a couple of days. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Lady Patience and all of her back story regarding the multiple cruel men in her life and how she endured. It made her character extremely interesting and so very likeable. I also loved the contrast between Lady Blackwell and the Gypsy man, Luca Boldor and how different they were. Yet there was a surprising twist in that they weren’t quite as different from each other as they thought and that added a really nice touch to the story. There was definite chemistry between Luca and Patience and I enjoyed the dynamic between them. Luca was enjoyable to read about because although he could be very stubborn at times, he was an honorable man who also happened to be quite handsome and charismatic when he wanted to be. In short, this was an easy read that’s entertaining and romantic, but is a nice, clean read. You’ll be hooked from the beginning and will finish the book in no time. If you’re looking for an intriguing story that you can devour in a day or two, then this is definitely the book for you. (I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All of the above opinions are entirely my own.)

What a treat this book turned out to be! This is a "new to me" author and I will most definitely read her books again! I haven't read a book with a character that was a Gypsy so this was very interesting to me. If you would have asked me before reading this book if I were interested in reading a "Gypsy book", I would have said "no" but now I know better! This book was fascinating! Maybe the author's writing had something to do with it! Her writing was very good and I enjoyed the characters and storyline very much. I was sucked in from the very beginning. The heroine, Patience, had so many struggles going on in her life but she met them all with faith and strength. Luca, the Gypsy, was drawn to her because of that because he didn't like "English" people at all but he collapsed at her door one night, injured and unconscious. As the two of them fight against injustices to both of them, I liked the story more and more. I will seek out this type of book again! "I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for a review."

This is a story with a lot of layers. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into the story. It's a story of opposites, yet similarities. Of people who have been hurt and seeking something to heal that hurt. Of people who are full of anger and revenge and those who forgive and love. Of those who protect, yet also need protection. Of one particular person who shifts from anger and revenge to forgiveness and love. Luca Boldor is a man without an identity. Is he a Gypsie or is he English? But, when we first meet him, he's an injured man escaping from those who would kill him. He needs help or he'll die. As we get to know him, the reader also learns that he's emotionally hurting. As his physical injuries heal, the reader also learns how his emotional injuries heal. However, will he accept the help and steps to healing or will his pride interfere? Lady Patience Blakwell is a woman without protection. A widow, she knows that there are those within her household that would betray and harm her. She, too, has been hurt and continues to live in danger. Yet, when an injured man is discovered on her doorstep, will she help him? Or, might she be inviting more trouble into her life? Who can she trust? On the negative, there are scenes and events that occur that are a bit unbelievable, but I forgive this because the rest of the themes and plot development are so strong and good. My advice would be to pay attention to the various themes such as pain, forgiveness, revenge, love, etc. Who does what and what happens to them. It's a beautiful story of justice, love, and forgiveness. If you get too caught up in expecting everything to be completely believable, you'll miss these. Note: I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review. Language - G - clean Romance - PG - some kisses Violence - PG-13 - some fight scenes, blood, attempted violence against the female character. My rating - 5 stars

This Regency romance had an emphasis on Gypsy culture. I’ve never read a book about Gypsies before, and I found that aspect of the story fascinating. I also really enjoyed how each chapter started with a Bible verse. Another thing I enjoyed was the lovely descriptions this book contained. For instance, “The afternoon faded into streaks of orange as the sun lowered, wrapped in a scarf of amber" 217. There were several phrases in this book that I thought sounded like poetry.

A romance with a Regency flavor, this novel introduces a contemporary theme with an historical flavor. Countess Patience, now a widow and threatened by a malevolent stepson, rescues an injured gypsy leader. Over the time she treats Luca, each has an increasing attraction to the other, yet their different cultures seem to destine them to be apart. The plot is complicated by her strong Christian beliefs, which he denies. Over a period of months as his injuries fail to heal and she faces threats from stepson and others, they learn to rely on their better instincts. This is a light read with some serious overtones. Historic elements are not always well researched or consistent, but the lively plot keeps you going.
