Self-Defense Nerve Centers and Pressure Points for Karate, Jujitsu and Atemi-Waza based on 0 ratings. 5 reviews.
I found this book actually in a box of books that was given to me a few years ago. Mr. Tegner was a head of his time in many aspects with this book. While not every technique in the book is sound and the material is very dated it's still a good book in terms of practical self-defense thoery and application. I believe I read some where that Bruce Lee had several of Mr. Tegners books in his collection. Mr. Tegner advocates the combining of techniques from different systems to keep yourself safe and using what works in the real world not just the dojo.
What Bruce Tegner has done with this volume is to strip away the mystical, pseudo-magical approach to the topic and present a straight forward and highly effective amalgamation of nerve centers, pressure points, striking techniques, and common sense self defense. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the martial arts or self defense in general. It is a valuable addition to your library.
I found the book to informative but out of date with the times. It might have been a good book back in the 70's but now it does not have the necessary infomation and I found the descriptions of the techniques to vague at best though the illustrations were good the book in general was, as stated, out of date. But if you are not already somewhat knowledgeble in anatomy or have some martial training then you will not get much out of this book.
good book for beginer there are alot of pressure points not included in this book. But for a starting point I would suggest this book.
If you have any clue of how any martial art works, this book is useless....one of the worst.
