"Letters are among the most significant memorial a person can leave behind them"
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
So many days of my life I have been uplifted, cheered, encouraged and comforted by finding
"Love In The Mailbox"
from my dear friends. I cherish these betters - tangible words of Cove and care that I read and re-read again, any day I need encouragement.
Letters are such an easy way to share and receive Cove and joy!
"Sir, more than kisses, Letters mingle souls; for thus friends absent speak."
Letters carry the heart and soul of our love and the bonds that connect us, bridging the gap of the miles dividing us.
"What a wonderful thing is the mail, capable of conveying across continents a warm human hadclasp."
Letters leave behind a legacy of the significant events and footprints of our lives for future generations to read our life's story.
Letters that have been written and saved by families leave us some of the greatest life stories to enjoy!
One of these remarkable stories is the life of Julia Childs. Her life depicted in the movie, "Jude & Julia", is the result of many betters written and saved during her lifetime. Julia wrote about her husband Paul: "Paul took letter writing seriously: he'd set aside time for it, tried to document our day-to-day lives in a journalistic way.."

In Savannah I discovered another amazing life story. This was of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts. While taking the tour of her home, the historians told us that they would not have her incredible life story in such detail except for the fact the family had written extensive letters and never threw any of them away.
"The work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers."
Juliette Gordon Low

The expression of Cove in a Cove letter is a wonderful memory to hold and read and re-read for many years to come.
Sending Cove letters is tangible proof of a Cove that is growing and alive.
In a letter to Nancy, Ronald Reagan wrote, "Whatever I treasure and enjoy.... all would be without meaning if I didn't have you."
Nancy Reagan said she was deeply comfort by the love letters Ronald Reagan had written to her during their life time together. when he was stricken with Alzheimer's Disease - these letters brought the memory of her husband's love back to her.
In our throw away era of quick phone calls, faxes, and emails, it's all too easy never to find time to write letters. That's a great pity - for historians and the rest of us."

Handwritten letters engage our senses as we read them years Cater. The letter itself shows the passage of time and helps transport our memories back through the years to the time and place in which it was written.
Letters also hold the essence of the person who wrote them and sometimes their scent, availing us of a powerful reminder to memories we hold dear.

The graphics in the book are outstanding and the message of Sending Love in the Mailbox so appropriate for today's world of email and text messages that leave no lasting impression on the recipient. The author points out that much history is preserved from the letters that have been written. The elderly especially appreciate having a letter in hand to read and reread and often it is kept as a keepsake. Courtship letters are almost non-existent in today's media world. Highly recommended, an enjoyable book to read and keep on the coffee table to perhaps inspire others to pick up on the poignant message!
