With "Seven Steps to Inner Power" we now have all the keys to our victory. The author, a diminutive but feisty and self-determined 4" 11" woman, has done it all and shows us how we can do it too. Forbidden from studying martial arts simply because she was a woman, the author broke through and became one of a handful of female great grandmasters in the world and then went on to found and run a successful hi tech company in the Silicon Valley and her own school of martial arts. But most important of all, she has written a breakthrough book that will help millions around the world break through to AWESOME in their lives, gain self-confidence and fulfill their life goals. I was "pulled in" in reading this book. It is captivating, straightforward, practical and inspiring. I did not want to put it down. Anyone who desires to be the best that they can be -- apart from any comparison with others, should soak up this book. For anyone in any walk of life, Seven Steps to Inner Power provides freeing concepts that leave one feeling hopeful and encouraged and stronger and more focused. Tae Yun Kim is no stranger to overcoming substantial opposition, obstacles and challenges in her life. Her solution is to turn the negative into life learning lessons and inner strength. Life is short. This book, I've found, is helping me to make the very most of my life -- in terms of contribution, productivity, happiness and strength. It is every bit as applicable to a business executive as it is to a student, or stay-at-home Mother with children. I have underlined, highlighted and copied pages of this book. I recommend it to anyone interested in living the best life one can live.
A very powerful read that I find hard to put down! The insights and parables make the principles easy to understand.
I am not usually into self-development books - but this book is full of real life examples from the author's own inspiring/compelling life and lives of students she's taught martial arts to. The examples really encouraged me and have given me hope that I too can change things in my life, set goals, and (with patience persistence and loyalty) reach them. When things don't go easily (which is so often the case) instead of thinking my goal is impossible and giving up, I remember how Dr. Kim wrote that when she was first trying to get to teach martial arts in the USA, despite it looking like an impossible thing, she went each day, for a month, and sat outside a school principle's office, just in the hope that she would at one point get a meeting with the principal, and that maybe then they'd let her teach martial arts at the school. That story alone has encouraged me so many times to not give up and to keep being patient and persistent.
This book helped me a lot. I especially like how the author gave real examples from her life and explained how to apply them in my life to break through my own barriers to awesome. Also, does a great job of explaining things in a way that are easy to understand.
I don't give 5 stars very easily - a book has to convince me it is worth it. This is one! The author really outlines how to reach your full potential, in a powerful, yet achievable way. She doesn't oversimplify, nor does she make it so complicated you can't even get started. My personal favorite is the section on keeping body and mind as one, and how distractions hinder us, and the examples she lists. This is no "one size fits all" book, but one that will help you on your path to accomplishing goals; you will know even while reading it "Yes! I can do this!"
