One of the favorite dresses I've sewn for my daughter (and the one that gets the most "wow's") is the Feliz Party Dress - which is in this book. I've always loved their patterns - and paid about $18 for the one. This books gives you so many wonderful patterns!!! The wonderful thing about the patterns too is that there are endless opportunities to embellish them... and they give you suggestions (add a ruffle here, and it feels like a whole new pattern)... If you love to sew for your girls, get this book. I won't lie though, if you are sewing for boys, I am not sure this is the book for you. It does have 2 nice patterns for boys, but it's a hoodie and a windbreaker. They are nice patterns - but the only 2 in the book I didn't think "I need to sew that!!". Splurge on an issue of Ottobre if you have boys, not this book. If you sew for girls - GET THIS.

This is a wonderful book, full of pictures and illustrations. It is not for the beggining sewer, unless you like a challenge. It is a European pattern with no seam allowances included in the pattern. They are multi sized so I reommend tracing off the size you want to keep the main pattern in tact. One thing it is a simpler method of sewing than American patterns, but you need to have some skills to pull this off. The pictures are bright and inspiraional.

I already have some of the authors' patterns, so I am familiar with their work. I must say that I absolutely love this book! There are a couple patterns here that were available for individual sale, so you might think, um why? Well, the book has more detailed instructions, color pictures, and line drawings for construction; all of which make it much easier for me to visualize how to make things. The pictures are delicious, and inspiring. The patterns are super fun. The writing is friendly, comfortable, and understandable. The format is excellent - spiral bound pages, people! The patterns are printed on standard brown tissue, so you'll want to trace them on something else; the patterns are tucked into a thick envelope in the front of the book, so make sure it's in there when you pick it up from the store. Mostly for girls, the patterns are full of fun and movement. While they can be made very simply, the examples are mostly of highly embellished, brightly patterned versions, which I just love. I would have liked to have some more straightforward photos of the fancier samples, and possibly a little more hand-holding in the embellishment department, but, honestly, it's a lovely book, and I will be sewing most everything in it. A great thanks to Nancy and Sabine for a beautiful and useful book. Now, if only I can gently remove it from the hands of my toddler, who steals it to look at the pictures...

Unique and complex patterns. I was very disappointed with the pictures as almost none of them were straight on photos of what the garment looked like. If you're an accomplished sewer with a great eye you might do well with the book. I was equally unhappy to find so few patterns for boys. For me, between the inadequate photos and the over abundance of embellishments on each layer of clothing, I felt overwhelmed and under impressed.

I had ordered this book based on the reviews. After receiving it and taking a look at the pictures and patterns, I returned it. The children's clothing in the book is all colorful and cute, but not anything I've seen kids actually wearing, at least not in this part of the country. They were more like costumes than every day outfits. I couldn't see my 3 year old granddaughter wearing any of them. So back it went.
