Sex Ray Specs was a wonderful collection of stories. Some are short and others much longer, and this variation made it all the more interesting. There's a story for every mood in this, from Gabriel the delicious blacksmith, to the horned god kidnapping a mate on All Hallow's Eve. Perhaps the best of the bunch is the final tale of Yoshi forced into geisha training. I am always educated reading Sessha's work, immersed into other cultures, and delighting in her dark imagination. Her writing is convincing, you are immediately immersed into the emotions of the characters and completely into their environment. This may be a collection of m/m dark romance but I didn't find that isolated the reader in any way. It's told with such aplomb that I was no longer aware of their sexes but rather invested in the outcome and their journey as each tale unfolded. There's a ghost story I just loved. I cared about the heartbreak forced onto a couple pressed to follow tradition rather than their hearts, and I really adored the concept of drawing your lover and having their shadow come to life to touch and kiss you. Wow this author's imagination is chilling and visceral and so very exceptional. I can't recommend this enough!
