About the Author
My name is Laura Barnard and I am an author from Hertfordshire, UK. My first chick-lit novel, The Debt & the Doormat was an Amazon number 1 best-seller and won Best Laugh Out Loud Book of 2013. It is available via Amazon, Smashwords, iBooks. Barnes and Noble, The Book Depository and many more. In my spare time I enjoy drinking my body weight in tea, indulging in cupcakes the size of my face, drooling over hunks like Jamie Dornan, Ryan Gosling and Leo Dicaprio...oh and my husband of course! I like wearing yoga clothes and reading fitness magazines while I sit on the sofa and eat chocolate. I'm a real fan of the power nap and of course, READING! I write not to get rich or famous, but because I LOVE writing. Even if one person tells me they enjoyed my book it makes the midnight typing worth it!

Earlier this month I was excited to be part of the cover reveal for Laura Barnard's latest book - Bagging Alice - which is released today, Thursday 1st November (click here for more details). I enjoyed that book so much that I immediately went in search of other books by this fun author. I LOVED this short story. It is a very quick and fun read! The characters are just perfect although the problem with short stories is that you just don't get enough and I would love to know more about them - *hint hint* more short stories or even a full length novel, Laura?? I highly recommend this book. I estimate it would take 20-30 minutes to read - what better way to brighten up your lunch break!
This was the perfect little short story. I really enjoyed the read and actually gobbled it up in one sitting. I got so hooked on the heat between our two main characters that I really couldn't put it down. I liked the character that Laura gave us. There was a great blend of family, snobbiness, worried friends and the girl who is more beautiful than she knows. These characters are all thrown together in a blizzard of action, revolving around an approaching wedding. As they interact , I found it easy to fall in love with so,e and despise others...truly. I did feel that, even though it was a short read, each character was given an e collect amount of thought, detail and personality. Of course, the steamy action was hot and very well written, though it was hot enough to melt all the snow they had to walk through! I liked the attraction that grew between the characters, all from a pen instant spark on a cold night. It was also great to read along as they felt comfortable to be themselves, were embarrassed and found the truth. Overall, this is a fab little read and is perfect for the holidays, to get you in the mood and keep you warm! I highly recommend giving it a read. I was given this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.
Melinda is on her way to a wedding she does NOT want to attend, driving through a snowstorm, when she veers off the road. Without a working car and not cell service, stuck in the snow, she is clueless on how she will get out of this conundrum. Lo and behold, up comes a handsome stranger also headed to the same wedding! She jumps in the car with him and together they continue on their trek to this snotty girl's wedding. As most of you know, I adore road trip books. And though this entire story was read in under an hour, I really enjoyed their trip through the snow in hopes of making it to this wedding on time. The flirty banter mixed with their sarcasm and quick wits, these two were a boatload of laughs! This story was cute. A bit predictable and silly, but totally enjoyable and a whole lot of fun. I'm such a fan of holiday reads. Every December I scrounge trying to find new and adorable Christmassy stories to read to help get me in the holiday spirit. This was exactly what I was looking for! It was flirty, fun, entertaining... and one super sexy scene was all kinds of HOT! If you're looking for a quick read to start your chilly day off on the right holiday foot, this is a story worth grabbing. (Thanks to Laura Barnard for the review copy!)
Such a fun fun holiday story to read this time of you! Melinda is so not in holiday spirit and add to that a wedding she is on her way to for a girl she doesn't even like or truly know for that matter! I mean seriously, who invites a girl to their wedding that they met one time! But fate steps in and she gets into a car accident! OK maybe not fate but cupid sure did arrive early with a man to rescue her - WOW! I do not want to give away to many of the sexy, fun details of this story! Just know that you will enjoy this all the way to the end and you will not be disappointed!
