Within the pages of this book you can learn how to distinguish different types of shade; choose flowers, vines, and bushes that thrive under shady conditions; and design an aesthetically pleasing garden. One chapter is devoted to plants of distinction, highlighting each one with a photograph, commentary, and its Latin and colloquial names. Derek Fell, host of the popular show "Step-by-Step Gardening," lets his creative juices flow with the inspired suggestions for making an all blue garden and using the trees that are creating the shade as arched passageways.
