Shadow Unit 1 is a tie-in book, to a NON-existent TV show. The authros tell you how they got the idea and then drop you into the middle of the First Season of Shadow Unit. Short novelettes by Emma Bull, Will Shetterly, Elizabeth Bear and Sarah Monette introduce you to the characters and the cases of the Shadow Unit-a Unit buried within the FBI BAU-that showed in the first season. The gag is that there is NO first season and the show only appears in the authors minds. The only drawback is that I can't find Shadow Unit on my TVIO...a good read. JD

i love these authors! i originally read the early stories on my mom's nook, now i have one so i bought all twelve ebooks - i'm really sorry these authors are not getting credit for the original idea that fueled a certain show that shall remain nameless.

If the XFiles were run like Criminal Minds this is what you would have. I don't give this 5 stars because it is too close to being derivative fiction but it is well-written and and wildly entertaining. I need to go find a good structure to hang the pieces on but will be zooming through the rest of the series!

As a fan of the X-Files and Fringe, I decided to check the first book out. I found it very entertaining, and the characters interesting. Sometimes it felt like they caught the bad guys too quickly, so hopefully that will change in future volumes. Other than that, a good read

I enjoyed reading this short story, 43 pgs. It is very descriptive and fast paced.
However, since this is obviously a part of a series, I felt like I came into it in the middle of the story.
It would help if there was an introduction explaining the concept. I had to read the review posts to understand.

Sorry to write a bad review of this book series. it is written by some of my most favorite authors. It is the stories them selves that are like reading the tv show criminal minds. Just to much violence that is too close to reality in the world. even with the fancy angle. gives the crazies something to think about and copy.
