Andi Harper is a hugely successful author, but she's been having an affair with her editor and after deciding she didn't want this anymore, she allowed her best friend, Mike, to talk her in to going home. Somewhere she hadn't been for 12 years. Too many memories, good and bad, too many mistakes to face up to.
Meeting up with her ex, Laine Thomas, shows her that the whole, you never go back, only forward, thing, doesn't always work. Because returning home restarted that fire and she is not sure she should put it out.
But Karma is a vengeful creature and is about to wake Andi up. Will she cope learning that life isn't one of her best-sellers, that the girl may never get the right guy after all?

It only took me 2 days to read this book because I was hooked from the very first page! I love the way that the story is written and portrayed in the book! I had a few strange looks off people because I was sat there shouting at the book when something awful happened. I cried on almost every chapter, this book really tugged on my heart strings. For every page I was reading I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation too see what happens next! I cannot wait for the second book to come out so that I can discover why Laine faked his own death! That part completely broke my heart and I knew as soon as she started describing Noah that it was Laine! It made me incredibly happy because he is the love of her life but it also annoyed me because why would he go and fake his own death and break the heart of the love of his life? You have me in suspense, please hurry and finish the second book! This book was truly amazing! M. J. Rutter is an excellent author and its amazing too see her finally have the recognition she deserves!! Just don't forget about me when you become a global author!!
Terri BurdenRecommend A Boo Last night, I read Shadows Lost - Melissa J Rutter. She's asked me to write a review, so I'm posting it here too. Shadows Lost This story is an unusual romance. The tale of teenage lovers separated by life and their own insecurities, it charts the life of Andi, a young girl trying to cope with her parents divorce and moving to a new town. The plot switches back and forth between adulthood and teenage years, giving a thorough understanding of how the to young lovers ended up so far apart. This story takes some unexpected turns, revealing flaws in characters that have remained hidden for years. For anyone who has suffered the loss of a loved one, this story has poignancy. Hopeful and tragic, Andi’s life takes some uncomfortable twists. The ending leaves you wanting more; with questions unanswered, you immediately want to continue into the next chapter of Andi
