Shattered Ties by K.A. Robinson

With a former supermodel mother and a rock-and-roll legend father, Emma Preston has the best of everything. Nothing is as perfect as it seems though. After her parents divorce, she's forced to live with her mother in a private Santa Monica community. Ignoring their parental roles, her mother becomes more focused on climbing the social ladder while her father is off on tour.

Growing up in a trailer park with his mother, Jesse is used to people looking down on him. When his mother begs him to submit an application for a scholarship to one of Santa Monica's top private schools, he never expects to actually get it. When he does, he is forced to attend school with a bunch of rich kids. He ignores their stares as they judge him for having tattoos and a less than impressive car. As long as he has his surfboard and the guys at the tattoo shop, he knows he can make it through.

When Jesse shows up on the first day of school, Emma can't help but be intrigued. Her mother would never approve of Emma talking to someone so poor, but she doesn't care because something about Jesse draws her to him.

Jesse tries to hate Emma, but he discovers that he can't resist her. Forced to hide their relationship from Emma's mother and everyone else around them, things start to fall apart. When Jesse's friend, Ally, decides to interfere, things go from bad to worse.

Can they survive their first love? Or will they be left with nothing more than shattered ties?

Book 1 of a 2 book series.

I liked the story alot. Wish it was longer there were some parts in the story that didn't seem to go anywhere so it kinda left me wondering a bit but over all the writing was good and the story flowed well. I HATE total drop off the face of earth cliffhangers and this book has one!! Grrr so I will be living in agony till the next book and oh I can not wait to read it! Great book read it.

I was looking for an audiobook, that the same narrator of a previous book. Just so happens I’ve owned Shattered Ties since oh, Sept of 2015. Tells you how many books I have on my TBR pile. So I agreed to the additional charge for Audio. Let me just say I’m so glad I did.  I loved Shattered Ties, it had that feeling of the innocence of finding your first love. Though, in some ways it’s forbidden. Jesse is from the poorer side of town, while Emma is from the rich side of town. Emma’s mom is a complete witch. Her only concern is moving up that social ladder. So if he finds out, everything could go down quickly.  I felt the intense connection they had. Those stolen moments, the awkward firsts. Emma want’s to keep it slightly hidden from everyone else. But Jesses doesn’t want to be hidden. I could understand, as much as he was falling for her. He didn’t want to be her dirty little secret.  When things start to unravel, I don’t understand why it was so easy for Jesse to just leave. I know it was in the moment. But I really wanted him to fight for Emma.  Kirsten did a great narration and really enjoyed her bring these characters to life. This is my first K.A. Robinson book and I loved it. It was everything. The intense, angsty, heartbreaking first romance. I can’t wait to read or listen to the other in the series....Lissa

Emma and Jesse were wiser than their years. Both from growing up without an ideal situation. So I was shocked to see what transpired  to lead up to the cliff hanger. I thought once they worked out that they really liked each other and wanted to give it a try, it would work out. Communication people! It all leads back to communicating with your partner. I do want to read the next installment to find out what happens with these two.

What can I say that I haven't said already. Every single book of K.As is simply awesome. This story though, stole me from the very beginning. It was real, sexy, and plan amazing. Don't pass this one up! You'll regret it later!

I was bored with this book. I spent a lot of time skimming. I honestly don't really have an opinion on it besides that....I finished it because I paid for it.

I've said it before and I’ll say it again. I am not a fan of books with high school kids… BUT I honestly loved this book. ... Emma Preston is a young girl is high school who has it all, a rock star father who she never sees and a mother who is a stuck up snob and former model. But Emma wants to be nothing like them. She is so down to earth and doesn’t judge people. She then meets to new “bad” boy is school Jesse Daniels who she knows her mother will never approve of. Jesse got into the private high school on a scholarship that his mother made him apply for and he hates every minute of it. Emma is drawn to Jesse but knows she can’t have a relationship with him because her mother would never approve because of where he comes from. But she can’t help herself and doesn’t want to stay away. I can’t say enough how much I loved this book and am dying for the second book Twisted Ties to come out this year!

I absolutely loved her first two books so I was really excited when I saw this one too. Super sad that I have to wait for the next one, but thats okay. Just gives me another reason to reread this one when the second comes out! Don't even think twice about it, just read it! Promise you won't regret it.

K.a. Robinson does it again. In Shattered Ties we are introduced to Jesse and Emma who are as different as night and day. Emma comes from a world of wealth and privilege. Where as Jesse is from a world he has to fight for everything he has. They are unexpectedly brought together. And while they both fight their feeling for each other the chemistry is there. I Loved this book can't wait for next year for the follow up of their story.

Another awesome book by an incredible writer!! I was thrown for a looop in the very beginning when i found out they were high schoolers... I was leary about it through a good part of the book because they're young, but eventually i began to change my tune! :)) The love between these two makes my heart do jumping jacks at every turn of the page... Jesse never let anyone in; until this strange rich girl showed him a compassion and love that nobody but his mother ever did. He matured right before my eyes but kept his witty and smartass remarks! Emma always had a comeback and i laughed every time!! If you want a good book you can get done in a few hours, i would recommend this book!! It's certainly an easy read and the ending will definitely surprise you and leave you wanting more! ;))

Was this written by a 15 year old? So immature, naive and undeveloped.
