Overview

In part two of She Was a Friend of Mine, three years have passed since the disappearance of her brother and the mysterious fire, which took her family. By happenstance, Shi meets T-money, who walks her right into the center of the Bay area's drug game. A gathering turns into a deadly takeover, when two of the most dangerous men Shi will ever meet face off. With a gun pointed to the head of the man who might know where her brother is, she gets a glimpse into the eyes of the man who killed her father. Will she get the answers she is looking for? Will she find her brother? Will she learn the truth surrounding her father's death? Will revenge change her more than the horrors of life? In the second part to this trilogy, the drama unfolds page after page with a jaw-dropping ending.

Reviewed by LaConya Gilbert for Readers' Favorite She Was a Friend of Mine 2, Disloyal continues where She Was a Friend of Mine left off. Shi has gotten herself involved with the mysterious T-money who has taken a special interest in her. As we follow T-money's backstory, we realize he is not the man he appears to be. Yes, he has reflected on his past with Shi's parents, making you curious as to the mystery which surrounds Shi's father's death. After T-money's unexpected murder at the hands of Spin, Shi takes us on an emotional roller coaster when she lands herself back inside a mental institution where she is forced to deal with the ghosts of her past. My mouth was dry, it hung open as my fingers turned page, after page, after page. After I read the last of the book, I felt the compulsion to read it again. I was not ready to leave Shi. I needed to know more, I wanted more. I found myself angry when the book ended because author Jasheem Wilson has grabbed me by my shoulders, sat me down, and captivated me with this unexpected story. Delphine Publications has found an unpolished diamond in Jasheem Wilson. I do not know if it is Shi and the way he portrays her, but he's got a fan for life in me. I love the raw imperfection of the unapologetic writing style in this series. This book has it all. It has a little bit of everything for everyone and is written in a way that anyone will be able to understand it. I love the fact that this sequel is not just a retelling of his first book. This is what a series is supposed to be. I am in love with the story telling as well as the characters. This is not your average urban fiction series; it has the potential to span genres. With a little more polish and a knock-out encore, I see this author going far.
