Overview

Shelby and Shauna Kitt and the Dimensional Holes by P. H. C. Marchesi

Shelby Kitt never gets lost. Shauna, his sister, never gets sick. As far as most people are concerned, the inseparable Kitt twins are odd 13-year olds. No one, however - not even Shelby and Shauna - can guess how extraordinary they are until the vice consul of Miriax, a planet from another dimension, asks them to take part in a dangerous mission. From that moment on, Shelby and Shauna Kitt discover that the universe is full of klodians, cities in jungles, giant bats, and tea with mushrooms. Most of all, they discover that it will take more than special powers for them to face - and survive - the evil that threatens the galaxy.

The adventures of Shelby and Shauna Kitt was a wonderful find! The world of Miriax is unforgettable - so different from anything that's been written. The characters are interesting, the storyline is exciting, and overall it's a wonderful book for teens and anyone else who likes sci-fi/fantasy/adventure.

Marchesi is a phenomenal storyteller, roping the reader into this wonderful tale of other dimensions and species. Though the story revolves around two thirteen-year-old protagonists, I'd have to say that this is a book for everyone. Parents can read it to their children, MG and YA readers will eat it up, and adults will enjoy the premise, themes, and overall fun this book has to offer. Not only does this novel have a very interesting storyline, but Marchesi's writing capabilities also shine throughout the entire tale. I am always excited when I start a new novel and, three pages in, note to myself that "this book is really well written." It is few authors that have me singing their praises that early on in the novel, so I must say, this novel is very well done. Although the novel is somewhat long, with the protagonists being whisked from place to place, dimension to dimension, it keeps the reader's attention throughout, which is a feat in and of itself, as many authors lose their reader when so much is happening within the text. Marchesi has a truly vivid imagination, and her explanations throughout the novel were really interesting. I am in awe of the sheer amount of imagination Marchesi brings to her story, tweaking it just so, making the reader experience it and not just read about it. I highly recommend this novel to all readers, and am hoping for a sequel!! Four stars!

When twins, Shelby and Shauna, are approached by the vice consul of planet Miriax, he asks for their assistance in closing the holes which have appeared between Miriax, Earth and the planet Klodius. These three planets all co-exist in parallel dimensions and are dependent upon each other for their energy. The vice consul explains that, in particular, Shelby and Shauna have been singled out from everyone on planet earth because of their positive energy. Because these two middle-schoolers have the most highly concentrated positive energy of anyone on earth, their energy can be channeled to help close the holes between their dimensions. But, if the holes are not closed soon, the planets will be destroyed. They, along with a team of others (mostly teenagers) are recruited to help with the mission. The twins are soon immersed in adventure in a world where inanimate objects rarely exist. People on Miriax interact with everything from library books, to modes of transportation, which all possess life-like qualities. From Lendox, the loveable vice consul, to Loola, the Mirian travel vessel, all of Marchesi's characters are full of life and energy . . . some positive, and some not-so-positive. And woven beneath this entertaining plot lies a foundation of positive messages about life, love, kindness, forgiveness and acceptance. Author, P.H.C. Marchesi has created an engaging fantasy thriller which is sure to entice and enthrall young readers. In this classic tale of good vs. evil, Dimensional Holes is filled with whimsical moments and edge-of your seat thrills. This book will keep you guessing up until the end. With every twist and turn of the plot, you will become further engrossed in this tale which is wildly imaginative and extraordinarily crafted. After reading this book, one can't help but want to spend a little time visiting the fanciful planet of Miriax. Thankfully, there is a sequel already in the works; and we look forward to visiting Miriax again soon with Marchesi's next book in the Kitt Twins' fantasy series. Shelby & Shauna Kitt and the Dimensional Holes comes highly recommended and has earned the Literary Classics Seal of Approval.

This is a wonderful Syfy/Fantasy book for Middle Grade or YA readers. Although I believe adults would enjoy it also. I stayed up until 5am to finish reading it! I want to have my own Roomix with pillows! What an awesome way to travel! Shelby and Shauna Kitt were adorable children with amazing powers, unlike the miserable, mysterious and creepy Dale. I would love to meet Lendox and Loola. Visiting Miriax just to eat would be the next thing on my list!

At first i wasn't sure if i'd like this book, since i never heard of the author or the title. A friend of mine gave it to me though, and said the story was great. So I started reading, and couldnt' stop. i finished in 3 days, a record for me. The story is awesome! Most of the fantasy and scifi stuff out there for teens is kind of the same, but Miriax is different from anything i've ever read. it's my favorite book since i finished the Harry Potter series.
