Hot little anthology with lots of sexy stories from four great authors. My favorites were Virginia Kantra's selkie story (the only historical in the anthology-- pretty cool!) and Angela Knight's sexy futuristic. Fun stories!

I really like this short story. It would have been nice if it had been longer but it is a good story and well worth reading. It does show what the Breeds are doing to be more acceptable and ingrained in the community. It also provides a look at just two people trying to find their way through a very difficult time. I love Saban and I loved Natalie. If you are looking for a quick read while lying next to the pool then this is the story.

**Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques**Berkley Sensation brings four talented authors together to create one erotic anthology infused with enough animal attraction to satisfy the most ardent lover of shape shifter romances! Shifter will simultaneously stir your most erotic fantasies while warming your heart with four stories of love and romance. ~Mad Dog Love by Angela Knight~ With not only her life, but the entire empire at stake, empress Zarifa Lorezo needs a bodyguard to ensure she reaches her destination safely. When she learns of a slaver in possession of a werewolf slave, she decides that ¿Mad Dog¿ is the man for the job.Even wearing a slave-collar, Rance ¿Mad Dog¿ Conlan proves himself more than a match for the empress on the run¿ Whether it is a full length novel or a novella length story, Angela Knight never fails to sweep you up in any tale she spins. She effortlessly creates edgy characters that enthrall the reader, making you wish this story were not a work of fiction, but real people fighting the good fight in our own world and leaving it a better place. And so it is with her entry in the Shifter anthology, Mad Dog Love. In this short story, she brings together a hero and heroine of the highest caliber who, although they meet under decidedly shaky circumstances, quickly learn to trust one another as they see each other with more than their eyes, opening their hearts. With a fantastic twist at the end that I admit to never anticipating, Ms. Knight deftly wraps up a gripping plot while leaving the reader fervently hoping for a continuation of this exciting universe with future stories. Mad Dog Love is a must-read for any reader who enjoys a red-hot interstellar romance! ~A Jaguar¿s Kiss by Lora Leigh~ Hired as the first teacher to the Breed children in Buffalo Gap, Natalie Ricci thought she was prepared for everything the job had in store for her. Nothing could have prepared her for Breed Enforcer Saban Broussard and his sexy Cajun accent. She was even less prepared for this thing they call the Mating Heat¿ Saban is determined to win the woman he recognized at first sight as his mate. No one will come between them ¿ not her overly aggressive ex-husband and not the evil scientists intent on capturing a Breed Mate for their nefarious studies¿It amazes me that after so many Breeds books, Lora Leigh is still able to find fresh angles for stories in one of my favorite book series. With A Jaguar¿s Kiss, she brings the story of a Breed male who finds his mate is a divorcee, with an ex-husband all too present ¿ something guaranteed to drive his jaguar fury wild, but exacerbated even more when the man tries harder and harder to separate Saban from Natalie. As a schoolteacher, Natalie brings a no-nonsense attitude to this story, and as a recent divorcee, she brings the pain of a woman struggling to exert her long-denied independence even as the Mating Heat drives her into Saban¿s life and into his arms.Even with the frenetic pace driven by the Mating Heat and Saban¿s courtship of Natalie, Ms. Leigh manages to weave a very nice dose of intrigue throughout the story, effortlessly tidying up any loose ends by the end of this novella.Whether you have previously read one of Lora Leigh¿s Breeds stories or not, A Jaguar¿s Kiss is sure to tantalize, thrill, and totally titillate. ~Shifter¿s Lady by Alyssa Day~ First Maiden of the Nereids, Marie hasn¿t left Atlantis for any reason in four centuries, much less a vacation. With her brother¿s mating to a shifter in the land Above, it is time for her to make the journey to that world to meet her new sister and the panther pack they belong to. With centuries of life, she has had her share of lovers, but none could have taught her quite what to expect from a man like Ethan, the Alpha of that very panther pack. She finds him alarmingly irresistible, a situation that Ethan is all too happy to use to his advantage.Ethan swears his protection for the beautiful Atlantian, a feat whi

This anthology of four paranormal romances showcasing shapeshifters of all kinds serves as a decent introduction to authors known for their ongoing series in the paranormal world. In particular, Angela Knight and Lora Leigh are each known for the steamily erotic scenes and these shorts hold little back from their usual writing. In the first story Knight provides us with a glimpse into a sci-fi universe where genetically enhanced demi-werewolves are bred for war and protection. Leigh continues on in the vein of her "Breeds" series with the story of a were-jaguar named Saban who discovers his mate in a teacher he is sent to offer a job to. Day also continues on with her Atlantis mythology when a temple priestess meets up with a were-panther protecting his own in the Florida everglades. Kantra's is a selkie tale of another teacher bound to have her hands full of not only not-completely human students, but one very bullish acting Warden.I think this anthology would be a good introductory pack to anyone who thinks they'd like to try out these authors. However, as in the case of most short story anthologies, the stories feel a bit rushed to the more seasoned paranormal romance reader and may prove to be a little frustrating to those hoping for substantial entries into their favorite series.

WOW! 4 sizzlers in one. Angela Knight gives us a futuristic princess-in-disguise fighting for her life and finding love with her shifter/bodyguard. A short (but sizzling) Pride story from Lora Leigh. An Atlantean/Cypress pride tie-in story that gives us a tease of what's coming in her next full-length novel by Alyssa Day. Virginia Kantra delights with story of a love between mortal and selkie. Four winners in one book!!

As a whole, Shifter was a great book- sexy, passionate, funny, thrilling, full of untamed desire... what more can you ask for? I know what you are going to say: Where's the delicious bad boys, the sexy shifter alpha males? Well, no worries ladies, they are in the book too-- plenty of them! In fact, you may need to call the fire department before you start reading, it's that hot! When you find an anthology with top paranormal romance authors like Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, and Alyssa Day, how can you go wrong, right? Not only do they write great paranoraml romances, but they all know how to add in the perfect amount of borderline erotica, which is always a plus, in my opinion. And believe me, they do not disappoint, even in an anthology, where sometimes it feels like the stories are too rushed! I loved each and every one, and I felt like they were able to tell a great story and wrap it up nicely even with limited pages available. The only story that I had a problem with was the last one, Sea Crossing, by Virginia Kantra. I've read her work once before, in the last anthology I rated, and in that one I was also a little disappointed. I do not mean to offend any Kantra fans out there *Or Kantra herself, of course!* but I have to say that after two slightly bland stories that I've tried of hers, I don't think I will be reading any more of her books. I will definitely re-read Shifter when I get the chance, but when I do, I will skip right past her story because it failed to hold my interest. Though she was able to write some pretty good sex scenes, I felt like the rest of the story line and characters, conversation and development, was forced, and not, well, completely developed. There was just something missing, and I'm not sure what it was, but I noticed it in the other story I read of hers. And I don't think that it helped any that the hero was a selkie. I've never really been into selkies in my romances, and the fact that it was the male who was selkie, it kind of turned me off, if that makes sense. There's just something about the thought of a handsome and sexy male turning into a seal that doesn't really work for me. Sorry to any fans out there, but this is my opinion.Oh, just a little side note: In Lora Leigh's book, A Jaguar's Kiss, the lucious bad boy, Saban... WOW! Grab a fan or a bucket of ice before starting it! Not only is the story hot hot hot!, like all of her books, but Lora Leigh made this hero extra sexy, in my opinion, by giving him a Cajun accent and a name like 'Saban'. Is it unusual? Yes, BUT it's so damn sexy! Is it just me, or does the name just scream "Untamed Passion" that would boil over, both in bed and out!? And when you read the story itself, I swear, that "Untamed Passion" triples in it's intensity, which you would think couldn't be possible.. and yet it is. Oh, God, let me tell you-- it is! While reading Saban and Natalie's story, I found myself whispering under my breath 'Saban' over and over again, actually pronouncing his name outloud each and everytime it came up in the story.. and a few times when it didn't!- because it's such a sexy name. I'd love to have my own personal Saban... *SIGH!*4.5/5 stars! Shifter is a great book, full of passion and thrill, love and laughter.. and Saban, as I've already said. ;) Don't miss this great book written by three wonderful authors... Oh, and one author that tried her best, but that I felt the book itself could have done without.

First one, Mad Dog Love by Angela KnightWe meet Mad Dog, he is a werewolf and in the beginning of the story he is a slave. Well, he ends up getting bought by Zarifa, who is on the run from her ex. She finds herself strangely attracted to 'Mad Dog' aka Rance even though he is supposed to help protect her from her ex and expose a person who has betrayed her. Well the story ends up all hot and steamy and makes me wish that I could fins me a hot werewolf!A Jaguar's Kiss by Lora LeighThis one was my favorite. We meet Natalie who has been offered a teaching position for Breed children/ She meets Saban, who ultimately attracts her and yet she fights the feelings that he is bringing out of her. Saban is determined to make her his mate. There is plenty of action, sex, and plot twists and turns. In this story, the Breed genes and such are amazing. Not your usualy run of the mill shifters. It was aactually quite refreshing to read this kind of outlook on shifters in general.Shifter's Lady by Alyssa DayThis one was about a woman named Marie who lives in Atlantis and hasn't left in nearly four centuries. Now she gets to leave and go visit her brother who is involved with a panther pack. Well, she didn't expect to run into a shifter like Ethan. But needless to say, she gives into her feelings for Ethan as she has never yearned for a man more, nor has she experiences one that yearned for her as much! Sensual romance to be loved!Sea Crossing by Virginia KantraEmma is crossing the waters to Canada. But instead of meeting a horrible and ugly death, she meets a Selkie (an elemental who is like a Seal). She becomes a teacher on an island, seeing that there probably was no way a ship was ever going to find her again. But Griff, who is male, okay, very male - she finds herself attracted to him in such a way! This was a pretty good anthology. But my fave story is A Jaguar's Kiss! So do with this review, what you will and check it out yourself!

The only story in this anthology I really enjoyed was the one that I bought it for so I wasn't disappointed. Lora Leigh's Jaguar's Kiss was an awesome story and I hope we hear more about this couple through the upcoming stories. Saban and Natalie are hot hot hot. I couldn't get enough of them.

I read a lot of anthologies and if I find one good story in the book I'm satisfied. Shifter is unusual for me because 2 of it's stories are keepers. The first and last stories are excellent. Angela Knight writes an excellent short story about a runaway empress and the slave werewolf she purchases. It was both dense and satifying, relying on character and a little bit of world building, and lots of fun.The last tale about a selkie and a school marm, was both romantic and magical. I had not read any Virginia Kantra before but immediately searched out her next 2 books, Sea Witch and Sea Fever based on her powerful and beautifully told tale here. It's every thing I like in a short story, infusing the tale with a tension and a fairy tale like sense of inevitability. The ending was the tiniest bit rushed, but that's only because I did not want to leave the characters. So it's well worth getting. The Lora Leigh was standard Breeds - she starts too intense and has nowhere to go from there, so there's no build up, just on going crescendo which can get a bit tiring. And the other Alyssa Day felt confusing to me. But the bookends make it a keeper.

15th book in the Breed Series. H/h were great. Gave some intersecting lines for th Breed Series as a whole. For Novella I felt that it gave us a very romantic hot story. I didn't read the rest of the story's in this Anthology. This story alone was worth every cent I Purchased it for.
