Well written, easy read. Does a good job of mixing historical information with interesting personal vignettes and diary entries from those who lived during the period.

The author did a wonderful job of making history read like a good novel.  The book was a great read and made you appreciate the history of  our young country.  I liked the way the chapters moved between land and sea battles.  The importance of the war on our nations future was put into a new light for me.  A great  job.
