Charles Montgomery Skinner (1852-1907) was an American writer who published myths and legends collection books. His dream was to make American folklore heritage more glorious. Skinner worked in a wide range of genres, he worked as a journalist and a playwright.
The "Shonkeek-Moonkeek" is a story in which the main idea and the main tragedy lies in describing lives of two persons. Shonkeek is a boy that fell in love with his own cousin Monkeek. They were living together in a house roaming the woods and hills, filling flowers and berries. Shortly saying they were living in peace and prosperity. But as the marriage of cousins was forbidden by polity they had to cease rumor about them and avoid each other.
