Overview

Hot messes have a hard time with happily ever after.

Baz Acker and Elijah Prince have it all. They’re engaged, and their wedding is guaranteed to be a spectacle no event will ever top. So why are they hunkered down in a quiet corner of the Acker mansion, restless and edgy while they wait out the holidays?

When Baz suggests a road trip with Walter and Kelly to Las Vegas, it sounds like an ideal escape, but it turns out Vegas only amplifies their unease. Elijah can’t slough off the self-hating his parents programmed into him, and he worries how that will affect his marriage. Baz, crippled en route because of too much time spent in the car without rest, must face the truth that his wealth and influence can’t always counteract the limits his disability will put on his—and Elijah’s—life.

With help from their friends, a wily poker player, a take-no-prisoners drag queen, and a smooth-talking casino owner, they face the truth that happiness is a state of mind, not a destination where they book a stay. What happens in Vegas won’t stay in Vegas—it will follow them all the way down the aisle.

Nothing short of fantastic for this followup to Baz and Elijah's book Lonely Hearts. This was pure joy to read. Seeing these two reach their happily ever after made me smile, laugh and cry. It was great to see the guys from the Special Delivery series brought in along with all of Baz and Elijah's posse of close friends. I loved that Baz finally got behind the wheel. My favorite part, aside from the whole wedding, was that they each realized that being together wasn't going to make their painful pasts magically disappear but that together they would overcome it and anything else life threw at them. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book. Bring it on! Highly recommended author and series Adult read

Heidi Cullinan's 'Love Lessons' series is definitely one of my favorites. The stories are rich with complex characters, emotional wallops, and intriguing plots. I have fallen in love with each set of main characters but I have to admit that Elijah and Baz probably inched their way to the front by just a hair. I'm a sucker for emotionally damaged people and these two scream that. I'm thrilled that the author wrote this addition to showcase their marriage and how they're handling everything. The fact that I got to see some familiar people from another series that I love didn't hurt at all. Communication is the all important ingredient that makes relationships great. Unfortunately, Elijah and Baz are still struggling with this. I don't blame Elijah for being severely uncomfortable with the wealth that Baz's family has, but he's going to need to get over the way he sees himself and learn to discuss his issues with Baz or their marriage won't work. To be honest though, Baz's mom scares me too. Baz needs to learn that he does have some physical limitations but that doesn't mean he can't take care of Elijah the way he wants. Plus, he needs to accept that Elijah loves him exactly the way he is and never considers any of Baz's issues to be a problem. Baz, Elijah, Walter, and Kelly head to Las Vegas to get out of Baz's mom's New Year's Eve party. Phew. They stay at Herod's, a very familiar place for me and should be for anyone who has read this author's 'Special Delivery' series. Ah, it was fantastic to see Randy, Steve, Chenco, Ethan, Sam, and Mitch. I felt right at home. More importantly, between Randy and the rest of the guys, they worked some of their magic to help Baz and Elijah see their issues in a new light. “Family is essential. Find it, make it, seize it however you can. If it walks up to you and welcomes you home and you don’t have reason to doubt it’s real, don’t argue. Just go through the door.” ~ Chenco A beautiful end to Baz and Elijah's story. The ending was perfect and I fell in love with these two all over again. Thank you, Heidi!
