I'd watched from the sidelines during those years as he played ball for the Pittsburgh Pirates. When he came home, I applied for jobs in every state but Michigan. I needed to get away from everything that had to do with him. When I was offered a job at a sports equipment company in Pennsylvania, I jumped at it. He wasn't there anymore. I knew it was a good place to go. Working with numbers was my thing. I loved it. Working with anything sports related and numbers was absolutely perfect.
