Overview

Damon Atwood was Hollywood's golden boy. Having won an Oscar at the tender age of thirteen, he had the life many could only dream about. But his success came at a price, and after a short but fruitful film career, he chose to live a life of obscurity on a remote Scottish island. Almost a decade later he's finally ready to make his return, starting with a lead role in a musical on London's West End.

As a choreographer's assistant, Rose Taylor has always faded into the background. She watches shows come to life from the side lines, but has never craved the attention of stardom. When rumours begin circulating of Damon's involvement in her latest gig, she doesn't predict how she will be thrust into the limelight, nor how the mysterious and strangely introverted man will need her to teach him how to be a star again.

Rose knows that show crushes don't last. Actors fall for each other during the intensity of a production, often losing themselves in their roles. These kinds of affairs burn bright and then they fade. The question is, should Rose let herself shine with Damon, or guard her heart from being broken after the final curtain call?

Rose and Damon are wonderful characters and their story was well done. The secondary characters were also fleshed out and well defined. The author skillfully revealed each backstory as it came in the narrative. Points off for too many uses of God, Jesus, and Christ and the many f#cks. Please writers use your skills and find a substitute for "sexy as f#ck", please.

I really enjoyed myself. I never thought I would be into a dark and brooding type, but here we are. The story line was great and the characters are unique. There were grammatical errors which was a disappointing, but the story was worth getting through. It’s steamy, fun, and put a smile on my face! I definitely recommend it.

Opposites attract in the newest Cosway offering featuring brand new characters in the bright lights of the theater. A fan of Cosway since her debut, I found Showmance a bit more mild than her usual offerings but no less sweet or heartfelt. Can these two truly opposite people in the cutthroat world of acting truly be together or is it only for one magical evening? Damon was a famous child star. Rose is a choreographer's assistant, used to being in the background and not getting noticed. Not that she minds really, until gorgeous Damon shows up and fireworks erupt between them. Age old insecurities, crazy ex-boyfriends, and supportive roommates fill out a interesting, yet heartbreakingly romantic novel that only L.H. Cosway can provide. I am a huge Cosway fan. I adore her words. However, I wouldn't suggest this as a first novel to read of hers if you are a first reader. Her trademark wit is very apparent, but the sexiness of her earlier novels is a bit downplayed within this story. If you are fan of the slow burn, definitely give this a try. An all around wonderful romance though, I enjoyed the banter and the utterly unique world Cosway has created.

There's so much to love about this book...it's from LH Cosway, so you know you're getting a well written book, and the characters will be vibrant and believable. You will fall in love with some of them, you will totally dislike some, and want more story from others. I love this book, and I was reading it every chance I had. I am looking forward to Julian's story!

Damon trusted no one until his eyes landed on Rose. Slowly their relationship bloomed. They both had insecurities and demons to overcome. A captivatingly passionate tale or love and personal strength. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

“Sometimes I felt like I was made from stone, solid and unmoving, only ever free when I delved into a role and became someone else.” “Damon didn’t speak openly very often, nor with such passion. This meant that when he did speak, you listened. You savored every syllable because you knew he guarded them closely, only doling them out when they truly meant something.” Oh, how I have been waiting for this book!!! As a fan of L.H. Cosway’s writing, when I first heard about this book, I immediately added it to my to read list. I just knew that this story was going to be something special, something amazing. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Told from dual points of view, Showmance follows the story of Damon and Rose. Damon’s acting career started at a very young age. Damon should be on top of the world, but he is not. His life has been anything but easy. He’s been taken advantage of by the very people who are supposed to love and protect him. So, it’s really no surprise that he’s spent the last few years hidden away on a remote Scottish Island…..Now, years later. He’s ready to make his comeback. What he wasn’t ready for was Rose…..Rose has always faded into the background. She’s an amazing dancer, but her stage fright keeps her behind the scenes. When Damon comes into the picture, she will be thrown into the spotlight whether she wants it or not. Rose and Damon were only supposed to be friends. But, the chemistry and connection these two have are too real to ignore. Will Rose throw caution to the wind and take a chance on Damon?? There’s only one way to find out…. Shomance was such an amazing read. I devoured this book in just one sitting. It was impossible for me to put down. I fell in love with Rose from the moment I met her. My heart ached for her and for her romantic troubles. I wanted desperately for her to find a man who would love her the way that she deserved. Damon was the absolute best match for her. I loved how the two of them started off as just friends. Yes, they were attracted to each other, but neither one of them was in a position to take things further. I just loved the push and pull that they had. I couldn’t get enough of the will they/won’t they moments. And Damon…he is just impossible to not fall in love with. He is sexy, dirty mouthed and possessive. He is quiet and when he does talk, you need to listen. And when he falls in love, he’s not afraid to go after what he wants. And Rose challenges him in the best possible ways. Gosh, I can’t say enough about these two. I just adored them! There’s not much else to say about Showmance other than I loved it. I loved every single moment. This book gave me everything that I needed and then some. The characters were utterly amazing. They were so easy to connect with. They begged for their story to be told and demanded that I devour every word. And boy did I devour each word. Rose and Damon’s story just captivated me. It made me laugh. It pulled at my heart. It frustrated me. God did it frustrate me. It made me swoon and it made me fall in love. And boy, did I ever fall in love. Showmance just totally consumed me and I loved it. Fans of L.H. Cosway, you are not going to want to miss this! I definitely recommend checking this book out.

5 - "What a pair we make." Stars! I don’t think that there is another author that quite paints a picture with words as vividly with so much detail as L. H. Cosway always manages to do. Showmance is no exception, I devoured this book as I would a large bar of my favorite chocolate, you know the kind that when you look down and see just crumbs you can’t believe it’s all gone, and just how quickly you managed to get through it. Another thing the author seems to manage to do with great skill is take likeable characters; flaws an all and put them in unique and diverse settings, and give them a story that exceeds all expectations, again there is a firm check mark in the column for Showmance on this front as well. I fell in love with Rose, Damon and the varied and many secondary characters in the book. Set mainly around the bringing together of a cast for a new theater production of Moulin Rouge, and the re-emergence of Damon Atwood into the public eye after nearly a decade out of the spotlight, and all the hoop-la that goes with it. Fame as a child star didn’t go too well for this guy, and he has pretty much spent most of his twenties holed up on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, working on a fishing boat and living with his grandmother. "You have no idea the kind of betrayal I’ve suffered in my life… This friendship I have with you is a big deal. I haven’t let someone into my life like I have you in years." Rose, tries to see the best in people, through rose coloured glasses if you will, but when she once again gets dumped upon and then dumped by her latest actor lover, she swears off men for the foreseeable… Well that is until she sets eyes on a certain Mr Atwood and his magnetic, grumpy charm. As you would expect with a theater full of thespians, all with their own agendas, egos and points to make, the path from friendship to true love does not run at all smoothly, and the author really bought the story alive with the secondary characters heavy involvement in Rose and Damon’s coming together. Notable mention goes to Rose’s best friend and flat-mate Julian, and I can’t lie having the authors confirmation at the back of the book that he will be getting his story told in 2017 made me really, really happy. This is a guy that reminded me somewhat of the inimitable Nicolas aka Vivica Blue (Painted Faces) in that his face-value character and the complexity that you know is going on behind that, is going to show a whole other person in the telling of his story. Sometimes they good ones could break your heart even worse than the bad. I love this author’s work, as I am sure you can gather, you can always guarantee that whatever story she tells, and whoever the characters involved are, will always be something a little different to the norm and a whole lot worthwhile in its reading. ARC generously provided, and it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.
