Publishers Weekly - Publishers Weekly
Craig (Divorced, Desperate and Deceived) turns her latest smalltown romance into a delightful comedy of errors. Hired by the mayor of Precious, Tex., to do a PR shoot that will draw visitors to the tiny town, photojournalist Shala Winters dodges burglars, would-be assassins, and vandals while tangling with sexy police chief Sky Gomez, who doesn't want her taking pictures of Native American rituals and turning Precious into a tourist trap. Sky doesn't believe in soul mates, though his foster father has prophetic dreams of Sky and Shala together. Shala, orphaned and divorced, is wary of men and furiously defensive of her independence. Many of Precious's standoffish, quirky, nosy residents are of Native American descent, but the culture feels like an afterthought; Craig stays focused on playfulness and sexual tension, and hits all the high notes en route to happily ever after. This was the first time I've read a Christy Craig book and I absolutely loved it! I was often laughing out loud making my kids & hubby wonder what I was reading! I have already downloaded Weddings Can be Murder, which by the way is a FREE download, and can't wait to start reading it. It's been a long time since I read a book that was romance, mystery, comedy, and action all rolled into one! This is definately a keeper and you won't regret reading it!

So, this is like most romance stories where you know where everything is going but I like the author's style of writing and that there were at least 3 times that I had to stop reading, find tissue and regain my composure after laughing until I couldn't breathe. I would and have recommended this book to my friends.

I recently stumbled across this book when looking in the ebooks under $5.00. What a find!! It made me laugh out loud, when I was sitting on my bed alone! It has romance, laughs, mystery and a very HOT small town Texas Chief of Police and a heroine that is a photographer from the big city of Houston. The mystery is great and their reactions to each other are wonderful. Being a native Texan myself, I love it when I find books with a Texas setting and this one is great. I will definately read more of Ms. Craig's books!

Welcome to Precious, a small Texas town where .Shala Winters has a job to do - as an experienced photo-journalist hired by Precious's mayor, she needs to increase tourism to this podunk town. Her pictures are the key, but there's one little problem - a sexy Indian snatched her camera during a powwow. She demands the police help her retrieve it which would've been a simple fix. except it was the Police Chief who took it! .Hunky, Native American police chief Sky Gomez has a job to do - keep the peace and keep Shala's confiscated camera in "lock-up" for a week while keeping his hands off the sexy, sassy photographer. Both would be easy if Sky and Shala hadn't been thrown together by a killer on the loose. .The killer has a job to do - get his hands on Shala's camera and eliminate the photos stored on the memory card. He'll use any means necessary to eliminate those standing in his way - guns, automobiles, blunt objects, cold-blooded murder - whatever it takes to get the job done. And those aren't the only things woven into the fabric of this mystery. In vintage Craig style, Christie maneuvers from funny to touching to terrifying and back again. Jilted lovers, drive-by shootings, "little blue pills" and a pissed off skunk add the right pops of color to make this tapestry a real feast for the senses. And with enough heat to fry an egg, Craig delivers a sure-fire, Texas size hit. Now. SHUT UP AND KISS ME!

Very rarely do I read a book that can make me laugh out loud. This was a wonderful mixture of humor, suspense and romance.

I enjoyed the story and the characters. A couple of times I laughed out loud. It was entertaining with just the right amount of romance. I liked it and would read others by this author.

I finished this book 6 days ago and had to refresh my memory of the plot as I sat down to write this review, it was that forgetable. I did not think the tension or the attraction between the hero and heroine (what were their names?) was crafted well. It was quirky and well paced but It did not draw me in emotionally, as I would expect a romance to do. I purchased this ebook because of the price (57% off MSRP) and I think a number of other people must have too, judging by it's current sales rank (#11). I recommend paying a little bit more for something better.
