Sight For Sore Eyes: vision and blindness in perspective
Standard Print Edition (LARGE PRINT edition also available). Did you know that about 39 million people in the world are blind and that about 80 percent of that suffering could have been avoided? That 90 percent of blind people live in developing countries and that blindness is due to lack of, or inaccessibility of, suitable medical services. This book reveals how Christians have made a massive difference training staff, equipping and resourcing hospitals and missions to reach the world of those with failing or lost eyesight. Sight For Sore Eyes begins with vital information on the medical and surgical issues of eye care and solutions to blindness. Where vision loss is irreversible, that is not the end of life, it is the beginning of new possibilities through education and rehabilitation. The early chapters set the scene. But the compelling excitement is the real-life stories of sight restored and personal achievement. There are accounts of what is involved in being a Regional Director of a Christian Mission for people with disabilities. The pages are packed with insights into the world of vision loss and restored lives. Your heart cannot fail to be touched with what happens when sight is regained.

About the Author

Peter has spent almost a lifetime living and working in Asia and Africa, managing development programmes. Working internationally with visually impaired people, and other people with disabilities, has given him a keen insight into social, cultural and religious issues impacting people in all walks of life.
Peter uses these experiences to write books that will inspire a generation. Throughout, the motivation has been Christian concern for a world in need. People and their circumstances have been the reason for compassion and service.
After an eleven year career in the world of banking he changed the focus of his life, to jobs which specifically help other people. Utilising practical skills in management, administration, accounts, organising and coordination he returned to college, to prepare for a new life alongside the most disadvantaged people as they sought change. Seven years later he returned to study the management of international development, at the same college.
Work assignments took him and his wife Sandy and their (then) young family to live initially in Kabul, Afghanistan. Later assignments were based in U.K; Kenya; India; Thailand; UK again, and Malaysia. These jobs entailed frequent travelling throughout East and West Africa, South and South East Asia and China. Peter and Sandy now live in New Zealand.
