The book caught my attention at the first half. Here you have a couple heading out to a B&B, and end up in a field not knowing what the heck is going on. Then it started going forwards, then backwards, and flip/flopping and I just got lost, then when Marlene was kidnapped, I just started drinking more coffee to calm my nerves because I was really wanting the story to end. If the story-line would have stayed with the sc-fi scene, then it would have been more convincing, because there are things that we are un-aware of. Lou has good writing skills, so I am looking to see if he will pull off a good read in his next book.

If this author's future books are at the caliber this book was written he has a fan for life.  If you are a Stephen King, Dean Koontz fan you will enjoy reading this book.  It is very well written.  Mr. Lera takes you on a rollercoaster ride into the unthinkable.   The book starts when Jim picks up the phone and hears a voice from the past.  You see while Jim was on a business trip in San Francisco he thought he would be able to have a fling with a Marlene who is raven hair siren.  While on their way back to her place a murder occurs that Jim and/or Marlene are witness too but neither one tell the police when they come to investigate a car being stolen.  Jim buries the incident in the back of his mind.  Fast forward to a year later when Tom and Diedre are scheduled to go on a weekend trip to talk about things.  The fun begins when Tom and Diedra leave on their weekend trip it all starts with the GPS so they drive to the nearest gas station and learn that this particular station hasn't been open for years.  While they are in the gas station someone flattens all four of their tires.  Are they in a predictament or what, read to find out what happens to this couple.

I couldn't put this book down!  I finished it in three days --- no easy feat, with 3 kids and a full time job!  When i was at work or busy doing other things, I couldn't wait to get back to it.  This is a dark and riveting tale about guilt and consequences, greed and fear, and the power of the mind.  I was surprised at every turn --- I didn't know what was coming from moment to moment!  I am already looking forward to Rera's next tale.

A real page turner!! Thrilling, compelling and satisfying. Paranormal is not my usual genre, but I found I could not put this book down.

Paranormal meets police investigations in this new thriller by Lou Rera. SIGN features alternating story lines, first about a couple trapped in a living nightmare, with eerie green spikes, images of dying animals reminiscent of Dante’s Inferno, and a haunting stalker who carries a cane yet kills with efficiency. The second plotline is the revelation of a brutal murder on the west coast a year earlier, and one detective’s search for truth among a shady partner and beautiful witness. As the novel unfolds, Rera deftly converges these two story arcs. At the heart of SIGN is a powerful theme about the quest for honesty between husband and wife. —Jeff Schober, author of Bike Path Rapist and Boneshaker
