Very rarely are authors first books written so beautifully. This book is descriptive, well written and has a proper love story to boot. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Silver Lining and am looking forward to book 2 later this year. Congrats on an amazing book!!

.Fantastic debut novel. This book had me hooked from the beggining. It is a sweet story of love and friendships with laughs along the way.  The author has done a fantastic job of describing the characters, how they are feeling and what they are doing. You feel you are right there with them.  I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next one.

This book is about Amber and Craig. Amber is just moving out on her own for the first time as a single woman. Her would be fiancée decided a week before the wedding that he couldn’t go through with it. She they sold their flat and she found one to rent. Her first night at her new apartment her friend wants her to go out and let loose and have some fun. So she goes. While she is out she happens to run into Mr. Sexy. She isn’t ready for a new relationship and has sworn off guys. But there is just something about him. So what does she do but run. Well she doesn’t really get away. I loved this book right away. You feel for Amber right away. She has been with this guy forever and all of a sudden he can’t go through with it. Then she meets Mr. Sexy right away. Who wouldn’t be scared? Then you get to know him and you just want them to be together even if you know he isn’t telling her everything. I don’t want to give anything away but I could write/talk about this book a lot more. It is very well written. The characters pull you in. I couldn’t put it down. I was given this book as an ARC copy in return for an honest review.

This is great love story. I went through many different emotions. I was crying with Amber from the devastating turn of events then angry with Craig for the unnecessary secrets. The friendships are so realistic, there are good and bad days like any real friends have.  I received an ARC for an honest review and I really love this authors writing. There was depth and emotion with each character and I could really feel what they were going through. I can’t wait to read the next book in their story.

I can’t decide if I am incredibly lucky or if there are an incredible number of talented authors out there, because I have ‘discovered’ another author, book and BBF to love. Since I can’t win anything of any discernible value, I think I’ll just put it down to the incredible author. The first thing that drew me to this book was the title. It wasn’t the cover which is very good, but that is usually the first thing that catches my eye. Then I read the synopsis and I was sold. The fact that I lived for a couple of years in Hammersmith, London so I could picture the places was a bonus. Also the main female character is a teacher like me so that was another bonus. But these weren’t the only reasons why I loved this book.  I fell in love, or hate, with all of the characters. To me, they were real people or, at least, people I wanted to know. The book was not predictable and I found I was asking myself questions because there were things I didn’t know and wanted to know, questions about Amber and Craig. What happened in their past?  Those questions were answered eventually, but it was those questions about their past and a few about their present, that handed me flipping over the pages whenever I could find the time. I really liked E.J Shortall’s writing style. She didn’t give everything away at the beginning, I was asking questions and there wasn’t any unnecessary information. I was able to establish a connection with the characters. I also like her taste in music.  I gave Silver Lining 5 out of 5 stars and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. BTW, this book does NOT end in cliff hanger. Written by Karen from A Thousand Lives Book Blog

This is a beautiful love story. Exceptionally well written with very likeable characters. I loved this book and eagerly await the second one. I have read it twice since release and am feeling the pull to read it again soon. An outstanding debut novel.
