About the Author



A native of Pennsylvania, G.E.M. Lippiatt graduated from the Virginia Military Institute with a BA in History and English before attending Hertford College, Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. There he read for a MSt in Medieval History and a DPhil in History. He is currently Leverhulme Early Career Fellow of the University of East Anglia, an associate researcher with the Centre d'Études Supérieures de Civilisation Médiévale at the Université de Poitiers, and an instructor at the Virginia Military Institute. He lives in Lexington, Virginia, with his wife and daughter.
