Simply Grilling by Jennifer Chandler relies on the premise of fast recipes for any type of grilling. Covering all types of flavors from mexican to asian inspired meals, the recipes are written in a concise manner. Colored pictures are included with each dish making the book visually appealing. Tips and how-tos are included at the bottom of each recipe and there is an entire section at the beginning to start you off on how to grill; whether indoors or on a charcoal grill; to get you started. Simply grilling is a nice start into the world of grilled foods. While I found this book enjoyable to look at and tempting with so much variety, my first thought when i saw the title was inexpensive grilling. Simply means also cheap and easy in my books. inexpensive is not a word i would use to describe most of the recipes. With ingredients like skirt steak, sushi-grade tuna loin, duck breasts, and a large selection of unique ingredients most people do not have in their pantry, this is not a book for anyone on a budget. I actually found the title quite misleading. One expects expensive dishes from cooks like Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa) and Giada De Laurentis and their books reflect that with the glossy pages and pictures for the upscale recipes. The matte photos and pages in Simply Grilling lead one to think of good home cooking yet the recipes reflect the opposite. For those looking for a fun book to look at or a gift for someone who grills a lot and wats a different take, this is a nice book. Otherwise I would pass on it for anyone trying to make a go of it in this economy. I received this book as part of Thomas Nelsons Booksneeze program in return for an honest review.

In her latest cookbook Jennifer Chandler, a chef trained at Paris’ famed Le Cordon Bleu, provides simple, yet delicious recipes for grilling that you can use any night of the week. She’s really tried to make sure that all of the dishes in the book can be made on even the busiest night of the week. She starts of the book with a section titled Grilling 101 in which she addresses the basics of grilling, essential grill gear and various tips and trick to use while grilling. Following are sections including starters, poultry, meat, vegetables, desserts, and more. Each of the sections starts with a little introduction or story about how she came up with the recipes and why she included the section in the book. I really enjoyed looking through this cookbook; the recipes sound amazing and there are gorgeous pictures accompanying each one. Along with clear step-by-step directions, Jennifer provides cooking tips, variations and suggested sides where appropriate. I haven’t had the chance to make anything from the book yet, but looking at the pictures and reading through it all makes me want to try it all. If you’re a fan of grilling and are looking for some new recipes, I’d highly suggest this book. Here are just a few of the recipes included: Tequila Chicken Fajitas Prosciutto and Fontina Stuffed Chicken Breasts Cowboy T-Bone with Whiskey Butter Grilled Potato Salad New Orleans-Style BBQ Shrimp Grilled Peaches and Pound Cake I cannot wait to try these recipes….hopefully I’ll have a chance soon! Jennifer Chandler is an accomplished author of several cookbooks and graduated at the top of her class with Le Grand Diplome and a Mention Tres Bien in Pastry from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. So the girl knows how to cook! She also knows how to put together a cookbook!! What cook doesn't love a picture of each recipe in the book. Guilty!! She comes up with great ideas from grilling artichokes to shrimp to fennel. Jennifer gives great tips on grilling and the recipes look delish. That said, I don't know that I'll ever try fennel. And Jennifer uses several ingredients that I would never use (like mint). But hey, I can't knock it if I haven't tried it. I would recommend looking at the recipe list for this book before purchasing just to make sure you will use it. That is just my recommendation. This book was amazing! I love to cook, but when it comes to grilling it always seems like there is no variety to my cooking. Jennifer Chandler's book Simply Grilling gave me some great ideas on how to add put a variety of tasty foods on my grilling menu! If you love to grill you will thoroughly enjoy this cookbook! Some of her best ideas in this book are simpler and quick. I really enjoyed how Chandler had various courses and suggestions on what recipes should be paired together. Now I am ready to get my grill fired up and try out a few or possibly all of the recipes in this cookbook! I had the chance to read and review this book! I always love looking through new cookbooks and finding new dishes that sound good! With summer coming up, grilling will be on the menu alot. If you want a grilling cookbook with nothing but good grilling recipes,then this is the book for you. It's filled with recipes and not only just meat,but other foods as well,such as desserts and stuff. Each recipe comes with a picture on one side and the recipe on the other side. Some are simple,while others takes more ingredients. I love a cookbook with pictures,it makes it more interesting then just a plain old one with just the recipe. She also includes tips on grilling,such as,how long to marinate and other useful tips to make the best of your grilling. I enjoyed this cookbook. I still like to pull out cookbooks and cook from them. I received this book free from booksneeze for my honest review
