Proper young ladies of the ton-especially ones who have very small dowries-are not encouraged to have an interest in intellectual pursuits. Indeed, the only things they are encouraged to pursue are eligible bachelors. So, the headstrong Sloane sisters must keep their passions a secret. Ah, but secret passions are wont to lead a lady into trouble . . .

After an eventful Season, Anna Sloane longs for some peace and quiet to pursue her writing. Though her plots might be full of harrowing adventure and heated passion, she'd much prefer to leave such exploits on the page rather than experience them in real life. Or so she thinks until she encounters the darkly dissolute-and gorgeously charming-Marquess of Davenport.

Davenport has a reputation as a notorious rake whose only forte is wanton seduction. However the real reason he's a guest at the same remote Scottish castle has nothing to do with Anna . . . until a series of mysterious threats leave him no choice but to turn to her for help in stopping a dangerous conspiracy. As desire erupts between them, Davenport soon learns he's not the only one using a carefully crafted image to hide his true talents. And he's more than ready to show Anna that sometimes reality can be even better than her wildest imaginings . . .

Such a fun story!!  I loved the Sloane sisters and their scandalous writing habits.  Running behind for her deadline, Anna agrees to attend a summer party to find some quiet writing time.  Instead she finds Davenport. A handsome man with quite a reputation - and not a good one. He is on the hunt for a potential murderer, but the attractive Anna i causing a distraction. I really enjoyed how the two characters interacted - how all of the characters did actually. Grumpy old scots, meddling mamas, and nosy maids really helped make the story jump off the pages. As Anna and Davenport try to find out who is planning murder and how, they go down several false rabbit hole and I loved how the suspense was drawn out. I was very happy with just about everything in the story. One little thing stood out that I didn't really care for, and that was how Anna and Davenport first hooked up. It had a hint of manipulation - not much, but just a tad and it just didn't fit with who they were everywhere else. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

“If Olivia’s story is an indication of what is to come in the next two books, I’m chomping at a bit to read them … like…YESTERDAY!”, and that is a direct quote at the end of my review of ‘Scandalously Yours’, which was book one in this series. Hellions of High Street is about three unconventional sisters that are poorer than a church mouse, but they all have one thing in common, their equally unconventional secret nom de plume identities. Now that the oldest sibling Olivia is married to the wealthy Earl of Wrexham, Ms. Elliott takes us on an adventure to Scotland and Anna’s happily ever after. We met both Anna and Devlin in the first book, but since both of these characters were on the prowl for ‘rich’ spouses, I was looking forward to finding out how would Ms. Elliott solve that ‘little problem’ and bring them together. Let me tell you, she doesn’t disappoints as she takes the advantage of growing attraction between them, then dials it up a notch as that turns into the physical attraction and ends up with an emotional bond we were glad to be a part of. Now that Anna isn’t required to marry into money, she throws herself into her writing, and research of ‘Sir Sharpe Quill’ novel. The trip into Scotland comes as a welcome respite from her growing attraction to Devlin and she’s hoping that the distance will help her regain some prospective where he’s concerned. Devlin, Marquess of Davenport, on the other hand, is busy replenishing the bare coffers of his estate and he’s dabbling in more than one enterprise to do just that. One of those is offering him a trip to Scotland, which he’s more than glad to undertake as he’s having a hard time keeping his hands off the beautiful Anna. Well, by now you get the picture. Both Anna and Devlin are surprised to see that destiny has plans of her own for them as they realize that running from their feelings and each other, is not something either really wants to do. When it comes to writing intriguing plots, Ms. Elliott always delivers. We are on pins and needles as our hero and heroine battle it out with the bad guys and themselves as well. Everything in this story flows well. The writing is good, plot interesting and entertaining, the characters well-developed and likable with love scenes sensual and hot. I am really enjoying this series and am in the middle of reading Caro’s story now! Hope you give it a try. *Melanie for b2b *Book provided by the publisher through Netgalley

SINFULLY YOURS by Cara Elliott is another exciting adventure of Regency Historical Romance set in England and Scotland. #2 in "The Hellions of High Street", but can be read as a stand alone. See,Scandalously Yours (The Hellions of High Street) This is Anna Sloane, the Marquess of Davenport and a house party in Scotland. A tale of romance, passion, and a dastardly villain or two. A Romantic comedy to be sure with lots of passion, and of course a bit of danger, a villain or two, a consipiracy and you have an awesome tale. Filled with secrets, betrayal, an assassination plot, and of course finding love. What more could you want in a romance? A wonderful romp though England and Scotland. Oh I forgot to mention England's Home Office, a huge reward, and flying sparks between our Hellion of High Street, Anne and our sexy, notorious rake, Davenport. What a wonderful Regency Historical Romance! I can hardly wait for Cara's story, which is coming soon in "Passionately Yours". These are the three "Hellions of High Street" and what a threesome they and their heroes are turning out to be. I love this series! Ms. Elliott draws the reader into her stories with engaging, hilarious, albeit dangerous heroines and heroes and her intriguing, interesting, passionate storyline. Another tale, well done! I would highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys Regency, suspense, danger, witty banter, and a great read. Received for an honest review from the publisher. This is book 2 in the Hellions of High Street series.  Anna Sloane's mother is surprised to hear that she wants to go to the house party in Scotland. But what Anna's mother doesn't know is that she wants to spend the time working on her book and not looking for a titled husband. She has also got to get away from "Devil" Davenport as he is proving to be too distracting. The ton thinks that the Marquess of Davenport, Devlin, is a penniless rake that doesn't have a kind bone in his body. What they don't know, is that he does missions for the government and his reputation helps him learn things he wouldn't have otherwise. His next mission is at a house party in Scotland. The government thinks that someone is going to kill a visiting prince. Anna and Devlin are both surprised to see the other when they arrive at the house party. One reason both of them accepted the invitation was to get away from the other. They each feel as if they spend too much time preoccupied with the other. With each on a mission of their own, much speculation ensues. Anna sees Devlin sneaking around where he shouldn't be right when some jewelry goes missing. Is he so desperate for money that he must revert to stealing to make ends meet? Devlin catches Anna sneaking away from where the guns are kept and the prince's gun explodes the next day. Is Anna in on the plot to kill the prince? Will they learn the truth about each other and find a way to marital bliss? I knew from reading Scandalously Yours (SY), that Anna and Devlin would be the next h/h (at least I hoped they would be). The chemistry they had with each other practically jumped off the page. We briefly saw a side of Devlin in that story that made me believe that he was not exactly whom we were lead to believe he was (great foreshadowing!) Sinfully Yours definitely lived up to all that I hoped it would be. One of the things I loved about SY, was the relationship between the sisters. In Sinfully Yours, Elliot continues with this theme and does it masterfully. We only see two of the sisters during this story, but I hope that changes with the story of the youngest sister (I've got my fingers crossed about who she will be paired off with). We have a pretty good understanding of who Anna is from SY, but she truly comes into her own with this novel. She has always been the perfect sister, the one her mother told the others to emulate. We finally see the person she has been hiding behind this facade. The adventuress person who will do what she has to do get what she wants. Devlin on the other hand was just the opposite. Known as a rake and not good for much else, we see the side of him that he has kept hidden. It takes the love of Anna to get him to share this side of himself. With every bit of new information, I fell a little bit more in love with him! I just can't say enough about this series. I LOVE IT!! This series is the only one that I've read from the author, but from these two books I will definitely be picking up her other series.  Thanks go out to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.(less)

A lovely, enjoyable romance, Sinfully Yours was a wonderful read. I loved this book. It had sweet and hot romance, thrills, and a compelling mystery. I thought it was a fantastic historical romance read. Anna was a lovely heroine. She was very clever and determined. Nothing could sway her when she set her mind to something. And, she was the kind of person who could think herself out of a situation. I really liked her. I thought she was great. Devlin was wonderful. He tried to act the dissolute rake, but he was really sweet. He was more clever and loyal than he let on, and not someone to be underestimated. I adored him. He was a perfectly flawed hero. The romance was lovely. Anna and Devlin were sweet together. On the surface, they look like total opposites, but they were a perfect match. And, the sparks between them were constantly flying, whether they were fighting or...doing something else. I thought they were perfect together. The plot was fast paced and I was hooked the entire way through. There were tons of thrills as the characters tried to find the culprit behind the assassination scheme and that kept me on the edge of my seat. I definitely never guessed who it turned out to be. It took me by surprise when I found out. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. I can't wait to read Caro's story in the next book! Sinfully Yours was a wonderful historical romance. I absolutely loved this book. From the romance, to the mystery, it was all fantastic. Romance lovers, this book is a must read.  *I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
