About the Author

Diana Rowland has lived her entire life below the Mason-Dixon line. She has worked as a bartender, a blackjack dealer, a pit boss, a street cop, a detective, a computer forensics specialist, a crime scene investigator, and a morgue assistant, which means that she's seen more than her share of what humans can do to each other and to themselves. She won the marksmanship award in her Police Academy class, has a black belt in Hapkido, and has handled numerous dead bodies in various states of decomposition. She presently lives in southern Louisiana with her husband and her daughter where she is deeply grateful for the existence of air conditioning. A master of urban fantasy, she’s the author of the Demon series and the White Trash Zombie series. She can be contacted via her website, www.dianarowland.com.

I strongly suggest you read the previous books in the series (Mark of the Demon, Blood of the Demon and Secrets of the Demon) prior to reading this installment. This was a very fast and fun read. However, I do have two complaints. The storyline felt like it was solely a set-up for the next book in the series. In addition, there were a few page fillers and slow dialog. The plot did not start to become clear until three-fourths of the way through the story. Only then did the story start to hit its stride and take us on a wild ride. The story ends on a twisted-cliffhanger that has me salivating to get my hands on the next installment. I can’t wait to see what new excursions await Kara. Minor gripe, Lord Rhyzkahl only seemed to have cameo participation in this installment, there simply wasn’t enough of him. Eilahn and Fuyzzykins were my favorite characters. I really hope they both become a permanent part of the “gang”. I highly recommend this book to fellow dark urban fantasy readers and I look forward to reading the next book in this series Touch of the Demon Due out 2013.

I am one hundred percent in love with series. It is quickly becoming as greatly anticipated as my Rachel Morgan series.

I'm liking Kara now. These books are very entertaining. There's a bit of crisper than usual humor. And she'a lot less shmalzy. The other three books were very good in a hoo cha cha way. But this one has even more story. Very enjoyable. I will support this author.

I should have read the reviews on this one. I thought I didn't need to. I thought I was at a point with this series and this author that I didn't need to check up on fan reactions to the book, but I should have done that here. I really hate to say it, but the fan reviews are right on this one: Sins of the Demon is only half of a much longer book. Hopefully, the story will be completed in the next book, Touch of the Demon (slated for a 2013 release). Despite the fact that Rowland is trying to build up her story, the ending of Sins was completely unsatisfying and unacceptable.Sins of the Demon continues the adventures of Kara Gillian, a homicide detective in rural Louisiana with the strange gift of summoning demons. Using her abilities, Kara solves supernatural crimes, but throughout her summoning adventures, she has pledged herself to a sexy demon lord that she is bound to summon once a month (and, usually, the result is excellent sex). But, everyone who has ever hurt Kara is dying, and to clear her name she must unravel the mystery behind her demon lord and journey to the demon world. From the first few pages, Rowland took Sins to the next level. Rather than offering another semi-episodic supernatural adventure with fun wit and great demon loving, questions start to become unraveled and Kara starts to dig into the mysteries behind her demon summoning. In many ways, I was really happy to see this finally coming together. Really, it was about time we finally got some answers. However, something about the writing style was a little off. Rowland just didn't seem to be as excited about her characters this time around, and the wit didn't seem to flow as easily this time. Could Kara Gillian be losing some steam? Could Rowland be getting bored with her demon summoning detective? It's hard to say, but with such an unsatisfying cliffhanger ending, it makes me wonder if we are really going somewhere or not.

My Exact thoughts when SINS OF THE DEMON ended " Holy crap what just happened? NO you CANT END THERE." WOW WOW WOW. This is hard to write without spoilers but I will try super hard.Kara is a fantastic lead character. I absolutely love all the police procedure stuff and investigating skills that Diana writes in. The world building is great, I love the different classes of demons and their descriptions. I have no problem picturing all of them and imagining them in our world. I was completely shocked when the "bad guy" of the book was revealed, I had NO clue it was that person. I absolutely love Elihan, I would so pick her as my demon roommate. I have always loved Ryan, him and Kara are so frustrating together but I continue to have high hopes for them. Rhyzkahl, we get to see some new sides to him and I cant wait to see what he does about the situation at the end of the book. The revelations in SINS OF THE DEMONS definitely helped me understand some things I had questions to but also added so many more questions to my head. How long must I wait for book 4? PLEASE tell me it wont be to long. The cliffhanger is a killer but I have to say SINS OF THE DEMON is my Favorite Kara Gillian book yet. If you have not started this series you are totally missing out.

The best installment in the Kara Gillian series to date! Once again, the villain is paper thin and cartoonish, but the plot is entertaining and the secondary characters all get more layers. What makes this book stand out is the tantalizing clues it gives about the demon lords - who they are, what they want, and why they¿re so interested in Kara. These questions have been lingering in the background since the series began, and now we¿re finally getting some answers. We¿re at the tip of the iceberg, and pretty soon the whole mystery will start to unravel. The ending of the book is awesome and will leave your jaw on the floor. Suffice to say that book five promises to be one heck of a new adventure. I can¿t wait!

This time, we get to see more of a “human” side to the demons: specially Kara’s live in bodyguard/roommate. Their antics had me cracking up many times; but it wasn’t only there, the Demon Lord Rhyzkahl seems to be showing a softer side towards Kara, he can be almost tender with her, and not just during the throws of passion. Hmmm Kara is given more and more clues on the big mystery that is Ryan; even though none of the demons can answer questions directly, and Ryan has absolutely no recall of what is going on. It’s a huge mystery that Kara is itching to solve. Then people who have once wronged her start popping up dead, Kara is be framed by someone, but why? Meanwhile, someone from the demon realm is trying to summon her to that side. Oh yeah, to say she has A LOT going on is putting it mildly. The ending, OMG, the ending! I have been trying to read a few other books in between these, but nope I can’t, I have to KNOW what is happening! OMG, just WOW!....Sara

Definitely not a one hit wonder, Rowland is not doing trilogies either. Book 4 of the Kara Gillian series is a 400+ page book you'll be thankful for having read and that she did extend it instead of cutting it off at 200 something. Highly recommended. Start with book 1 and keep going!
