What situations make you nutty? Is it your dysfunctional family gathering? Your job? Or maybe it's the continual deluge of political wrongs? Author Rose A. Valenta takes a satirical eye to real life events to figure out life's puzzle pieces in the book, Sitting on Cold Porcelain. Valenta combines topics on holidays, Viagra, and political unrest in a collection of humorous anecdotes. In the chapter titled "Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman' or Mushroom Syndrome?", Valenta tackles societal changes about modesty, sex, and pop culture. The twelve-year olds of today are more likely on social networks and talking about everything under the sun, a stark contrast to their yesteryear peers who wondered if Santa really received their letter. Simplistic life provides few answers unless asked, but pop culture taints societal appropriateness. In the end, Frosty may have a porn collection, but we don't even care. It's normal, and after all, there's help for that. Valenta delves into a variety of topics, like Pirate Parenting, our squirrel kids, what's worse than a pitbull's bite, sequestering herself to feed a writing habit, political scandals, family dysfunction, and more. Chapters hint at Valenta's biting humor with titles like, Thanksgiving Plans - Remember The Titantic!, First Offenders Getting Nuttin' For Christmas, . Punxsutawney Phil to PETA - 'Kiss Off!', and Is There A Common Sense Particle? You may find yourself in similar situations: hoping your kids grow up to be decent adults or wondering if the world's gone mad. If you want solutions, you'll probably need to find some self-help book. But if you want a smart, satirical read, try Sitting On Cold Porcelain for insight that swats away the superfluous and leaves you laughing out loud.

Rose Valenta's take on life is very funny. If you need a laugh, go get this book. It's not very long, it took me only a few hours to read, but it's packed full of laughs. Kinda reminds me of Erma Bombeck. I think everyone, man or woman, would enjoy this book.

This little book is basically short satiric essays mostly on political subjects. The book is so short (163 pages) that I read it in little snatches of time. It is written in the style of Erma Bombeck. It doesn't play any favorites, it hits both sides of the isles and it is current. It is OK to keep in the purse when you are stuck waiting somewhere. None of the topics are laugh out loud funny, but some of the essays make you pause and think a little.

I laughed for hours, couldn't put it down. The essay about "Frosty the Inappropriate Snowman" was the best! You will love this book.
