Cute short story (prequel) about a young girl who has a problem keeping her mouth shut. She lives her family and works to help her father find things to fix and sell. Along the way, she helps street kids as well and has learned to read and do math. She catches a silver coin the king has thrown out and tries to work out in her mind what to do with it. This is a fun world filled with soothsayers. I really think you will love this story.

I loved this short story. It had a great central female character, Henina; a world populated by adorable little street urchins; soothsayers causing trouble; and lots of humour. But best of all, it promoted the importance of education, in particular mathematics (or at least arithmetic) and learning to read, as a potential way out of poverty and into a much more sophisticated and interesting life. Maths and reading are two of the biggest things in my life, and it is both a pleasure and inspiring to see them central to a book. My thanks to the author. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book at no cost from the author in exchange for an honest review
