Sixteen Brides will put a smile on your face, warm your heart and make you want to get your gun (don't have one) and shoot someone in the behind! You will be amazed how eight of the women come to make a homestead in a little Western town. The community is a community everyone wishes they had the support around them. For a good feeling and adventerous book, you must read Sixteen Brides!!

I loved each heroine of this book & I loved how each of them didn't have to seek out a man to be strong. Each woman grew in their relationships with each other, with God & as a result of their struggles. I could not put it down & finished it in a day!

I liked that the story told a bit about the women but it was more like six women not sixteen.  I enjoyed what little that was shared of the each women.  However I had trouble keeping track of who was speaking at what times.  It tended to get confusing after awhile.  I also did not like that the story set up to where all the women were going to get married or else just cut them off with out any explanation of their future.  I felt the ending was rushed and was slapped together to end it.

Highly recommended - A Great story GREAT STORY - The women in this story are so vastly different in almost every way but one – each wants to start over and own her own land. The problem - it is after the Civil War -- 1800's and only men owned land in the 1800's. A notice had been posted that women who wanted to own land should come to a special meeting, find out the “facts” and then sign up. 15 women did plus one woman who had planned to runaway California but got on the wrong train car. The good looking man offering this opportunity spoke well and assured them they could obtain free acreage in Nebraska if they signed the papers he had. And, they did. It was not until days later when their train arrived in a desolate town did they discover they were being delivered as “brides.” Not one had signed up to be a “mail order bride.” Now they were here in a desolated place with little to no money and not sure what to do. They soon discovered the guarantee that they could return to where their trip began had strings attached. Although the ticket would be free for the train ride, there would be a charge for their luggage. Some elected to go on to the next stop and become brides; a few decided to stay where they had arrived. Those who stayed discovered they were stronger than they thought they were. This is a CLEAN romantic cowboy love story filled with challenges the likes of which the women never knew -- nor did many of the cowboys. I could not put the book down and since I am not a speed reader I ended up going to bed at 4:30am when I finished the story. Note to self: don't begin reading a long (over 300 pages) story after 9:00PM.

This was very enjoyable, although the author did add religious veiws. I really liked the women and following their stories.

I really enjoyed this book! It's well-written with a very interesting and rather complex plot for a romance novel. I found it interesting to read about these women, just a few short years after the Civil War, pitching together and helping each other try to establish a new life in rural Nebraska. Their problems were real and the Christian undertones were handled very well. I highly recommend it!

This is a well written novel filled with historical tidbits, did you ever wonder exactly how a "soddie" was constructed? I certainly have a new appreciation for homesteaders. The main characters are interesting and the author brings them to life. You want to know more about Caroline, Ruth, Ella, Hettie, Zita and Sally and when the book ends you want more.
