I have read a few authors who can express so much with so little, but not many. I am almost grateful for not having someone beat me over the head with clever, but ultimately, fictional details while still maintaining a complex and believable sci-fi story. I enjoyed this, and the preceding short stories, very much. Looking forward to more from Anthony Ryan!

Good read. A little background info would have been helpful. Would have deserved four stars.

Bar a few typos, this sci-fi short is as slick and professional as its conventionally published equivalent. The world of 'Slab City' is well realised and if i had any quibbles it might relate to the sheer diversity of its inhabitants - thanks to genetic manipulation, people can be pretty much anything they want - although I realise a lot of people might regard this as a plus.
