Slay (Storm MC #4) by Nina Levine

Book #4 in the Bestselling Storm MC series.

The ghosts of Donovan "Blade" Brookes' life are closing in on him.

Hardened by an abusive childhood and haunted by the murder of his fiancé, Blade struggles against the dark forces threatening to consume him. When he helps Layla Reed in her hour of need, he has no idea she will be the light to his darkness. As they spend more time together, he is powerless to fight his desire for her.

Powerless to fight his need for her.

However, as his feelings deepen, he pushes her away, reluctant to drag her into his world. With enemies coming at him from all directions, Storm MC needing his help to fight off a rival, and his father still causing him grief, Blade needs the love of a good woman now more than ever. Can Layla push Blade to the edge and get him to admit to both of them what he wants? Or will the darkness pull him under once and for all?

It is recommended to read the Storm MC Series in order.

Blade grew up hard, watching his mother be abused by his father who is married to someone else and the president of the Storm MC. Tough, hard as nails Blade builds a business empire devoted to helping women get away from the abuse (but doesn't want anyone to know about it). Actions done by his father bring about an uneasy truce between Blade and his half-brother, Scott, who is the club's VP. Layla is a strong, independent female whose business partner has gone on the lam after putting her into a precarious position with the people he owes money. Enter Blade, who sees several of the men trying to rattle Layla. An attraction sparks and soon, it becomes clear that they are good for one another. I LOVED this book. When an author can wring out varying emotions with their words, and the book stays with me long after I've gone on to another one, I consider it an excellent read. Great job, Nina Levine, in slaying us all with Blade!

*Copy provided as part of blog tour* This series just kept getting better and better! I really, really LOVE it! As mentioned a lot of times, this series features different couple each book but it has a story that centers the Storm MC. If this is your first read in the series, I suggest that you stop and PLEASE read by order of series starting with the first story — STORM, which is currently free as not to miss anything. This 4th book main hero is Blade aka Donovan or it can be Donovan or Blade. One of the most important characters in the series. He is a game changer. A surprise in the lives of Maddison and Scott. In this book, we get to know him more — his nightmares, his responsibilities as a member and leader of another MC, an ally to another MC, a loving son to his mother and we get to see him fall in love. Layla. The tough, independent woman who looks after herself and those important to her especially her only blood relative that she sees and treats as real family — her cousin. She is not afraid of speaking her mind and after everything that she went through, she definitely knows how to stand up on her own. I really love everything about this book — from the characters which I think is a given since Nina really knows how to write hero and heroines to love! Say hello to hot as hell bikers and sassy ladies with dirty mouths. The story — Nina manages to create a perfect balance between two stories — the hero and heroine of the book and the story of “Storm MC”. It was definitely easy to get hooked. There are 3 moments that really stayed with me in this entire book: 1. The first real interaction between Blade and Layla. Hello ARM PORN and DAMSEL in DISTRESS! It isn’t really “how” they met, but the timing. 2. The first time they did the DEED. THAT WAS FREAKING INTENSE, HOT and SWEET at the same! HOW? JUST READ. 3. Epilogue. First part, that was pretty heart-warming. PROMISE! This might have been my favorite book in the series up to date but I’m still holding the torch for GRIFF! Excited for the next story!! GRIFF, PLEASE! To Nina Levine, thank you so much for creating the world of the STORM MC. More, please? To Melanie of Book Empire, thank you as well. Sorry for posting this just now!

The main characters in this story are Blade and Layla. The more I get into the Storm MC books, the more I noticed a great theme. Each character and couple have their own demons. They are all put through difficult things and have to learn how to make it through the hell we call life. This book is about Blade's story, even though he is connected to the family/MC. Blade is not a member of Storm, instead, he has his own thing going on. Blade is the step brother to Scott and Madison, they have the same father, Marcus Storm MC's President [who everyone hates]. Blade and Layla have demons that they need to deal with and they help each other deal with them. Blade and Layla have some hot hot chemistry and lots of hot, hot sex. Blade is rough and tough but, Layla takes all of what Blade is in stride and knows how to calm him down and cares for him. If you want to know more, you will need to get this book. I loved this book and series so far!! Great book Nina Levine. I recommend that you read this series in order which is Storm MC Series Order is; Storm , Fierce, Blaze, Revive, Blade!!

5 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, abuse, murder, and heartbreak. If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Storm (Storm MC, #1) Fierce (Storm MC, #2) Blaze (Storm MC, #2.5) Revive (Storm MC, #3) This is Layla and Blade’s story. Blade has not had an easy life. His father was abusive. His girl was murdered. He has closed himself off to protect himself from pain. Layla has had to take care of herself for a long time. Blade is different than the men she is used to but so much better. She sees the good in him where he only sees darkness. The more he tries to stay away from her the more he feels the pull of her. Can they try a relationship or is Blade just never going to be able to let go of the past? With his father causing a lot of his problems can he protect all the people that need protecting? Will he have to do something he may regret in order to keep the people closest to him protected and alive? Will it break him even more or will Layla be the one to help him heal and finally move on with his life? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

WOW... I can honestly say that 'Slay' has become my fav "Storm MC" book, & Blade my favourite character, there was just something about Blade's story that really struck me. I think Nina has really outdone herself with this & I'm unsure how she does it... I loved the inside look of Blade, his emotionally dark past & the light it shines on who Marcus really is. Then you met this amazingly strong women Layla, who's past isn't all shiny roses... I really love the strength Nina gives her leading ladies, I think it makes the story easier to devour, because that's exactly what I did when I picked up this book. 'Slay' is book 4, but you read it as book 5 in the "Storm MC" series, I strongly suggest you read this series in order, so that you get the full impact on the story. The lead charcters do change, but the background story about Storm MC is continous. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

In this book we have Blade's story. Blade is the son of Marcus President of Storm MC Club. He has fought his own demons and dealt with the abuse his father dished out to himself and his mother. Blade was in a relationship that turned bad when his fiancé was murdered and he has carried that blame for years. Enter Layla owner of a bar , hardcore strong woman. Blade finds that he is drawn to her. This couple both has their demons to slay but can they do that for each other? I think so far this has been my favorite book in this series. Blade has a huge heart when it comes to helping women and Layla finds that very attractive. Scott, J, Nash, Blade are determined to work together to bring down Marcus. Can they do it? I can't wait to read more in this series. I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.

4.5 Delighted Stars Favorite Quotes: “I craved someone with a genuine kindness to them, someone who cared about other people as much as they cared about themselves, and I’d rather end up alone than settle for less than that.” “He was danger in all its glory, and yet he was safety and shelter at the same time.” “Donovan, sometimes you have to shatter to find strength, and sometimes you have to let someone in to help you put the pieces back together.” “I could get lost in his kisses. Rough to show his passion and need. Soft to show his tenderness and care. And the way he injected rough and soft into the one kiss made my knees weak.” “We’re still breathing, but we’re not living. We need to stop blaming ourselves and get on with life.” My Review: I read all five books to complete this review – nearly 1200 pages according to Amazon. My eyes have nearly burned a hole in my head – but I have loved this series and would gladly do it again! I was slow to discover the MC genre, and have to admit, seeing a grouping of Hells Angels barreling down the freeway has yet to provide a thrill - as the ones I generally see in real life tend to have massive beer bellies, deeply textured faces, and appear to have been rode hard and put away wet. Not at all like the sex god hotties detailed in this book. But then, I’ve never met a Christian Grey type to have offered me an interesting contract in real life either. This is my first time reading Nina Levine's work and I loved it – a lot! Each book focuses on a different couple of strong willed and difficult personalities, each with lots of sexual chemistry, pain and history behind and between them; yet they find each other and try to make it work. Given that all the couples can't seem to keep their hands off each other, I don't know how they have the time or energy to fight with anyone else, must less run their businesses or walk... I am chartreuse with envy! There was a consider amount of delicious steam and a steady diet of plot twists. Each book is darker and hotter than the one before, but I adore how Ms. Levine shows the humanity, broken and tender hearts, and protective traits to the otherwise tough bikers. Her characters are complicated, likable, complex, and fully fleshed out. I thought I was reading the entire series but see there are more to come – count me in!

Just let me start this review by saying Blade is one hot hunk of a man and I want him.. This book is about Blade and his woman Layla. When two strong personalities collide, sparks are bound to follow and sistas these two had sparks that would burn the pages up or melt ya bloomers, however you want to look at it. Blade is a total alpha male and for over a year has frequented a bar, sat in the same place, drank the same Scotch and never once paid attention to what was happening around him. He wasn't really living life since the tragedy he suffered years ago, so to notice more than the menial things, just wasn't important to him. Then suddenly a situation comes into his bar and he realizes maybe he needs to get his head out of his bootie and start to get to know the sexy bar keep. Layla has had her eye on the hottie in the corner for over a year and she looks forward to his visits, but he doesn't seem to want more than his scotch and with all the drama she has going on, she really doesn't need to add him to the equation. Then suddenly things happen and she sees the incredible opportunity to get what she has been wanting for so long. When these two characters come together, the tender moments are few but they are there, when Blade needs the strength Layla offers to him, he can't refuse it no matter how hard he wants to. The sex between them was OTP hot but not so detailed that I found myself going ugh not another sex scene. Instead I cheering for Layla to grab that stud show him what it was all about. The story was excellently written and total engrossing and had plenty of MC type action. I was so glad Blade did what he did. I breathed a sigh of relief when it happened and cheered for Sharon. I think this is the best book of the series yet, and am anxiously awaiting more from the next. Some things are still up in air at the end of book. No ladies, not a cliffy, just some other things that were brought to light in this book. Solid 5 stars to MS. NINA LEVINE and my whole hearted appreciation to be allowed this book for review.

I have been fortunate enough to follow along with this series since it first came out and have loved every book. The books in the Storm MC series are always raw and gritty but also chock full of emotions. I always devour them and this one was no different. I loved getting glimpses of the characters from the other books but still getting a full story for the newest couple in the series. Donovan (Blade) and Layla are so perfect for each other. Donovan is aggressive, a total alpha male, and has a big dark past. However, he also has vulnerability that he doesn’t show to anyone, especially since he lost his fiancé 8 years ago…until now. Layla is tough, protective, feisty, and also has a vulnerability that occasionally peeks through. These two completely complement each other and I was rooting for them from the very first time they met. They know how to banter with each other and I loved that. They also know what’s important and I think they understand each other on a whole other level. This book will get your blood pumping. The story line is intense and enthralling. I found it extremely easy to immerse myself in this world and get lost in everything that is going on. The characters are fantastic and I can’t wait for more in the series. Wonderful job! 4 out of 5 stars!!
