I like this CD because it doesn't just have the songs; this CD has ALL the music from the movie, which was a favourite as a child and still is (in my opinion) the best thing Disney ever did. I love listening to the music - it is a story and experience on its own, which can't be said for all movie soundtracks. There needs to be no visual anything with this music; the animation just enhances the music. Enhances but not overrules. It is the story of good and evil, a picture of Christ and the Devil and their battle which will end in defeat for the forces of evil: Good has always triumphed in the end and it always will. This is the message of the music just as much as the movie and just one more reason I love it so much. This music speaks. You need to let this CD speak to you. :)

What puts this soundtrack on a completely different plane than ALL other Disney sountracks, is the masterful use of Tchaikovsky's music to tell the story. The fairy-tale itself has universal messages beyond words- and Tchaikovsky's music expresses these messages perfectly, while at the same time having the lilting dance rhythms of a lovable ballet, the sweet sense of character, lush coloring and unforgettable melodies. Disney was right to make use of this score, one of Tchaikovsky's best, rather than trying to create something new. I encourage all lovers of this movie to purchase this, and then, if you enjoy the music as much, purchase the entire Tchaikovsky ballet. You won't be dissapointed, and it is a fun game to see how Disney's musicians adapted the music's actual intentions to fit the movie, with much success. Enjoy!
