The Sleeping Matchbook by Patricia L. Stebelton

A yellow Mustang. A maroon and gray jacket. A mysterious matchbook. They all lead to murder.

Samantha Westhoff will never forget the night she waved good-bye to her crazy-in-love best friend, Amanda Griffin, as she jumped into her boyfriend's yellow Mustang to go to a birthday party. The next day Randy's gunshot body was discovered behind the wheel of his car in an empty parking lot. Amanda hasn't been seen since. Now, four years later, as seventeen-year-old Sam is helping to sort out Amanda's room, she finds the jacket she's sure Amanda was wearing the night she disappeared. But then, how could it be in her room now? Sam wonders. When she discovers a matchbook hidden deep in the lining of the pocket, Sam knows she might be holding the one clue to what really happened that night....

This book was a pleasure to read. It is a book I can happily share with friends of all ages. It is rare these days to find a mystery that is not full of bad language and off color scenes. I enjoyed this books very much and shared it with a neighbor who gave it to her daughter, who shared it with her 17 year old daughter to enjoy. The granddaughter loves dogs as does the young woman in the story. It is a great gift book and one you can be proud to give. This book would make a good read aloud for families who read together.
