I was completely blown away by this book. Such honesty and inspiration. The author has written in a way as to pull you into the life of his family and friends. Amazing insights into tragedies that could have had negative impact.I especially enjoyed the laid back everyday language that made this feel real and non condescending. I now understand more that God wants a relationship more than religion.

More like a crash course in organized religion than a memoir.

After reading Sigmon's book of the retelling of his mother's life, illness, and death I felt strength from the wisdom he shared. He was very real about his family's emotions (guilt, anger, utter grief) and gives good insight in facing such trials. This book is not just for those who have lost loved ones, but absolutely for those who will be facing this trial in the future. In a nonabrasive way Sigmon sprinkles advice and encouragement throughout the book on what a "Christian walk" should look like, and how to obtain it, backed up by scriptural references. Another good point emphasized throughout the book is reminders of the value of family, friendships, and community and how it has been lost in this busy world we live in today. He emphasizes good points on how to regain this in our lives, and the important part it plays in our walk with God. The last chapter is what Sigmon imagined it would be as his mother enters heaven; a must read for any Christian and non-Christian. The chapter relates a vivid, soul stirring picture of the joy in heaven, the sweetness of Jesus, and how even the tiniest things we do here on earth matter in heaven. He paints a beautiful and moving image that should encourage us all!
