Overview

A Bad Boy, a Good Girl, and Ice Cream Collide in the Best Little Wedding Town in America!

Dahlia Mallard has finally found her destiny—running an ice cream shop in Bliss, the happiest bridal town in the Midwest. Problem is, her heart is bigger than her bank account, and she needs a serious influx of cash to get through the winter. Her last-ditch effort? Convincing country music superstar Billy Brenton to commit to attending her risqué flavor-tasting event to boost ticket sales. But the closest she can get to Billy is his drummer, the womanizing Mikey Diamond.

Mikey loves the ladies, and he makes no secret of it. But he’s not such a fan of this town devoted to weddings, love, and marriage. And he’s even less of a fan of people using him to get to Billy. When circumstances land Mikey in Dahlia’s house, though, all his caution—and all his interest in any other single ladies—flies out the window. Dahlia’s quirky and funny and, unlike his usual women, she doesn’t tolerate any of his baloney. But when Mikey discovers that Dahlia, too, is using him to get close to Billy, will he take the chance to be her hero instead, or will he revert to his manwhore ways?

This is the first book I’ve read by Jamie Farrell, and while it was okay, I felt like it was too short, and had great potential to be made into a longer book. After I finished reading it, I went to Amazon to get some information about it (number of pages, publisher, etc…), it was then that I saw it had previously been published in Snowy Days, Steamy Nights Anthology in January 2015. This made more sense as to the length of the story, and that this wouldn’t give you a complete story, because the idea would be to entice you to read the other books in the series. If I hadn’t found that out I would have given this book 2 stars, but knowing that, I bumped it up a star. Also, with that information it does make me want to start with book one of the Misfit Brides series, Blissed. So I guess Smittened served the purpose it was suppose to! As far as the main characters went, I really enjoyed Dahlia and her quirks. That she made ice cream (with sinful names), and loved animals so much, was very endearing to me. I would love to see Farrell expand this short story in the future, so we could get more of Dahlia. On the other hand, Mikey really didn’t do much for me. I thought he was a bit too insecure, and his obsession with his best friend’s sister, just put me off. Once again, perhaps if this was a full length novel, and we got to know Mikey more, I may feel differently. Even though I haven’t read Blissed, I would say start with that one, and read them in order, so you get more backstory and character development that this book was lacking,

Dahlia has a heart of gold and no matter the situation, always helps someone in need even if it puts her in a difficult situation in her own life. As she is struggling to earn money in the winter months to pay her rent, she finds herself face to face with sexy Mikey who suddenly needs a place to stay. Can she convince him to rent a room from her? Just maybe he and Billy Brenton, his famous musician friend, can make an appearance at her ice cream shop to boost business. Mikey can’t believe the house he rented just burned down, now what will he do. When Dahlia offers him a room, he accepts having no other options. What he finds is a sweet, confounding, sexy woman that sees him as a player. Can Dahlia melt this player’s heart? Will he be able to convince Dahlia he can be long-term? Another fun, sweet romance from Jamie Farrell. This is a short story so perfect quick read when you have little time but wasn’t something fun to escape into.

Dahlia owns an ice cream shop, The Milked Duck. Her ex-boyfriend Ted, took her money and left her barely being able to make ends meet. She wants to meet Rock Star Billy Brenton, in hopes he will come to her adults only ice cream tasting, so she will be able to sell enough tickets and make enough money to keep the shop open, keep her apartment and her pets. Mikey Diamond, the drummer in Billy's band is watching his rental apartment go up in flames from a fire, and he has no place to stay. Dahlia lives across the street and witnesses the fire. She strikes up a conversation with Mikey, invites him to stay with her temporarily, all in hopes of Billy showing up and saving the day. I love Mikey and Dahlia. They help each other out, and their arrangement turns into a real friendship. This is a heartwarming story that made me want more. I highly recommend this book. Jamie Farrell is a phenomenal author. I received this audio book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

When country/rock drummer Mikey Diamond accidently burns down the rental he and Billy Brenton were living in, Mikey is invited to crash across the street with Dahlia (the ice cream store owner). Mikey recognizes Dahlia, but can't recall her name and the battle begins. Dahlia is trying to get some extra money to keep her store afloat. A former "beau" swindled her out of her cash cushion she was going to use to subside through the winter. She is sponsoring an "adults only" ice cream night and if she could get Bill Brenton to attend, she would be able to sell a ton of tickets. Mikey says he'll get Billy there, but of course, not without some negotiating. Mikey quickly sees Dahlia's generous heart, but also begins to see her loving and sensual side, too. Mikey tries to fix a few of the wrongs that have occurred in Dahlia's life, and they soon find themselves in lust. Dahlia is fall for Mikey, but soon realizes that Mikey is using her to make his life-long crush Mari Bell jealous! Smitten is a quick, fun read.

Smittened by Jamie Farrell is the absolute perfect title for this book. A sweet little novella that is sure to have you smittened with the hero and heroine. After reading about Mikey in Matched I wasn’t so sure about him. He was, afterall, trying to keep my favorite couple in Bliss apart so I was a little frustrated with him. He redeemed himself in Smittened for sure. Dahlia is not a heroine I am used to reading about. She isn’t the girl that stands out. She lives with cats, a lizard and a guinea pig with next to no furniture in her living room because she had to sell it since she was kind enough to loan money to her ex boyfriend who up and left. She runs an ice cream store in Bliss and it doesn’t see a lot of business in the winter months. Money is tight. Mikey, country superstar Bill Brenton’s drummer and best friend, is a little lost, lonely and just needs a friend. He is also a bit of a manwhore, charming and flirting with every woman he sees. I didn’t expect him to fall for someone like Dahlia who doesn’t typically fall for men like Mikey. This unlikely pair was heartwarming to read about. Both of the characters grew so much in a short time frame and I flew through the story. I thought it was brilliant to have Smittened take place during the same time period of Matched but from Mikey and Dahlia’s points of view. The overlap of events was fun and just makes you feel more a part of this town and characters’ lives. Smittened is a novella in the Misfit Brides series, but I think it could be picked up and enjoyed as a stand alone just the same. If you are looking for a sweet romance read this winter, give Smittened a try. You will be left with a warm heart and a craving for ice cream.

Dahlia is in dire straights. Selling everything she owns to make ends meet in order to keep her ice cream shop. When Mickey needs a place to stay, she offers to put him up. As their attraction grows, Dahlia fights it because she doesn't want to be a fool and be taken for all she had. Mickey must use his charm to cut through her defenses. He has never thought about happy ever after but he can see it in her. Can they work together to save her shop and Mikey's dream? The dialogue was quick, witty, and oftentimes funny. I was laughing out loud and rooting for this couple from the first page.

Jamie Farrell has once again kept me laughing through a book.  Smittened is a well written book with lovable characters and loaded with humor.  I loved Mikey and Dahlia's story.  Smittened is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading.  Smittened is A Misfit Brides of Bliss novella, but can be read as a stand alone.  This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.  I look forward to reading more from Jamie Farrell soon.

Smittened is an outstandingly adorable read by Jamie Farrell. This sugary sweet story is about how a random act of kindness can lead to something unexpected. Determined to save her ice cream business Dahlia is hoping for a little celebrity help. She gets more than she bargained for when she meets Mikey Diamond. I fell in love with the book and the author. This is a beautifully written lighthearted read. Received a copy of this book for an honest review.

In the mood for some luscious ice cream in the middle of winter? How about a scoop of chocolate orgasm, cherry popper or peachy passion, just to name a few. Smittened by Jamie Farrell definitely warms the heart and taste buds with this entertaining novella about love in Bliss, Illinois. Sweet and always helpful Dahlia Mallard needs an influx of cash in order to keep her ice cream store from closing and her home mortgage paid. If she can somehow manage to get country music star Billy Brenton to stop by her shop while he is in town, her prayers may be answered. Dahlia ends up spending time with Mikey, Billy's drummer, which leads to a lot more than just friendship. They help each other out and end up falling in love. Wow, nothing like a fun read in the middle of the dreary winter season to boost up your spirits. Dahlia and Mikey are likeable, charming characters that kept me captivated throughout the story. Their banter is amusing, in addition to being honest and flirty. I really enjoyed this novella. If you are looking for a quick, engaging romance, then curl up by the fire with Smittened. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Oh my what is there to say about Smittened. This is one of the best short stories I have read such a sweet sweet romance between Dahalia and Mikey.they meet when the house he is staying in catches fire and burns to the ground,so Dahalia offers him a room in her house.Dahalia owns the ice cream shop in Bliss, and she is having money problems,so she is trying to get Billy the guitar player of a band to come to a tasting of some of her ice cream.Well what happens you need to read this sweet story. So while you are visiting in Bliss you must go to the ice cream shop and sit a spell and have a dip of Chocolate Orgasm or Cherry Popper ice cream you won't regret it!!

I loved Dahlia and Mikey's story! Dahlia owns the local ice cream shop and is trying to figure out a way to salvage her business. She decides to have an adult ice cream tasting and wants country music superstar Billy Brenton to come to her taste testing event. Instead of getting close to Billy, she gets close to his drummer Mikey. I so loved Billy and everything about him. I also wanted to taste test the real ice cream flavors in this book! I would highly recommend it to anyone.
