Sequel to Catch a Tiger by the Tail

THIRDS: Book Seven

Life for Dexter J. Daley has never been easy, but he’s always found a way to pick himself back up with a smile on his face. Taken from his home and the arms of Sloane Brodie, his boyfriend and THIRDS partner, Dex finds himself in a situation as mysterious and lethal as the Therian interrogating him. Dex learns what he’s secretly believed all along: his parents’ death wasn’t an accident.

Discovering the whole truth about John and Gina Daley’s homicide sets off a series of events that will change Dex and Sloane’s life forever. As buried secrets rise to the surface and new truths are revealed, Dex and Sloane’s love for each other is put to the test, with more than their relationship on the line. If traversing the waters of murder and secret government agencies wasn’t enough, something inexplicable has been happening to Dex—and nothing will ever be the same.

Combined Review for Books #7 & 8 Dexter J Daley, lover of all things 80s & all things Sloane Brodie, is about to have his life turned upside down once again but this time he learns new facts about the past which directly effects his future as well as that of all the members of Destructive Delta and their friends. As much as Dex and Sloane are devoted to each other, will their love survive these new found truths and changes? As followers to my blog and reviews know, I don't do spoilers and I definitely don't want to spoil any elements of mysteries so I won't touch on any specific plot points for Smoke & Mirrors or Thick & Thin but I will say this: I was blown away and thrown for a loop farther than anything one of Delta's shifters could have hit me with. "Holy Hannah Batman!" came out of my mouth more than once and considering I was reading these while enjoying the refreshing fall air under my maple tree in my front yard and trying not to scare the neighbors with my sudden outbursts, I think those three little words sums up how I felt reading these two better than anything else I could come up with here. Even though Dex is at the heart of these two installments, don't think Charlie Cochet has forgotten the rest of the team, their friends, family, and co-workers but we also discover a new enemy who may or may not be what Delta is led to believe. Yeah, I know I'm being cryptic but its the closest thing you're going to get out of me concerning the plot . As I said when I reviewed Hell & High Water #1 a few weeks ago, I had this series on my TBR list for a few years but now that I've read it I can't begin to guess what took so long. Brilliance from beginning to end and I can't wait to see where the author takes these characters in the future but I do know that I will be among the first in line to read any new adventures and they won't be lingering-in-waiting on my TBR list any more.

O.M.G.!!! If you are going to read Smoke and Mirrors, and you've followed the series so far, then be prepared for an emotional ride. Seriously, I think I have shed more tears during this part of the story than for any other instalment! The feels, people, the feels! Sloane and Dex have had a tumultuous relationship but things seem to have calmed down. Unfortunately, you know that with all the secrets that are coming out, that things will definitely rock the boat. This book is simply amazing, with classic Dexisms throughout (I loved his conversation with Hudson!), but at the same time, absolutely heartbreaking. This book holds the answers to some questions that Dex hadn't even allowed himself to ask. Time moves on, but hurt can remain. So many things I want to talk about, but I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone else, so instead, I will just say that this book is simply outstanding, and I loved every moment - even if my eyes are now red-rimmed! Exceedingly well written once again, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. Definitely recommended by me, as well a box of tissues! If you're anything like me, you're going to need them! * Verified Purchase ~ April 2017 * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This is the 7th book in the THIRDS series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. CAUTION: Each book is added upon the previous book and should be read in order. In order to avoid spoilers and for greater understanding. Dex & Sloane and the team have their work cut out for them in the latest THIRDS book. Sloane is back to anger issues, Dex is scared out of his mind, and the team is completely exasperated. Why? Because the latest adventure has more than meets the eye. All our favorite characters are back in what seems to be the darkest book yet. Sloane & Dex must overcome the secrets and people who try to rip them apart. This series is simply breathtaking! I am just now catching my breath, after reading this pulse-pounding story. While keeping us on our toes, it is still filled with sweet moments that make us feel complete.

A grab you by the seat of your pants, explosive, edge of your seat thrill ride. I started this book today after reading the previous six over again and couldn't put it down till I was finished.

I’m crazy about this entire series, but Smoke & Mirrors is one of the better installments in my opinion. It begins with some of the most edge of your seat action from any of the books and continues to keep an energetic pace. The sex scenes are fiery hot, and the dramatic sequences suck in the reader and never let go. Things have been building for a while now with Therians, humans and government agencies. This book leaves plenty of room for the story to grow, but it also covers a lot and fills in several gaps. I got emotional a few times, and I feel like this book renewed my interest in the mythology of the series. It also delivered unforgettable scenes from my some of my favorite characters. I like seeing the ways they’ve changed since I first met them and enjoy feeling the closeness of their relationships. Smoke & Mirrors is a win for me, and I recommend it to all THIRDS fans.

What a ride Charlie Cochet takes you on with her Third Series! Smoke & Mirrors certainly does not disappoint! The story picks up exactly where Catch A Tiger By The Tail ended. You must read this series in don't want to miss a thing! I don't know how Charlie keeps topping herself but she does. This story does not disappoint at all. It has everything I wished for in it and more. Charlie Cochet is an auto buy for me and this series is the reason why. As one of my favorite series, it just keeps getting better!!
