About the Author

Ahren spent her formative years living in an active volcano. There her family made collectible lava art. She studied rock collecting at the Sorbonne in France. There she met the love of her life-her pet pig Sybil. She returned to the states and started writing. She is happily married to a guy who used to live under a bridge and she met while pole-dancing. They have one amazing daughter.
Now, meet the real me. I grew up in the south and consider myself a true “Southerner”. Most of the special locations mentioned in my books are reflections of my favorite places. Living on the Florida coast, my family spends a lot time at the beach which is where I usually can be found with a book in my hand. I started writing my Surrender Series, in the spring of 2013 and have received incredible support from the Indie community. Throughout this year, I have been privileged to meet some amazing people that I am thankful to have in my life.

Smokescreen jumps right into the action and chemistry between Stella and Max. I understood her reluctance to mix her professional relationship with a personal one, although I commended Max's persistence. When he finally brought her to his home and showed her his life with Erica, my resolve for her to remain unattached crumbled along with Stella's. At this point I was really rooting for them and hoping that Max could make a happier life for himself with her. I was excited to see how things would play out for them, but also apprehensive about what obstacles they would still have to overcome. Sanders did a great job of pulling me into the story and making me become invested in these characters. When Erica started making trouble for Max, I became even more engaged in the story. She was relentless and I couldn't wait to see what she would try next and how Max would react to it. The action and suspense just kept coming from that point on and it was difficult to put the book down. I really enjoyed Smokescreen and cannot wait to read more from Ahren Sanders.

4.5 star This story has laughs, secrets, mystery, suspense, kidnapping, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. All Stella wanted to do was present a simple proposal to get her career moving. But she got so much more. Maxwell’s ruthless until Stella makes is heart beat again. When life starts crashing down do you pull the ones you need that much closer? The chemistry between these two is off the charts good. With all the twists and turns this story takes you have to wonder if love really is strong enough for them to hold on to and if it will keep them together. Love does not come easy and to think Maxwell has to really work at it and be able to excel in that work. The protectiveness he shows for Stella will prove his love and willingness to sacrifice. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book.

4.5 stars One word Maxwell McCoy This was a great read by Author Ahren Sanders; the way she was able to tell this story will have you unable to put the book down until the last page and leave you wanting more of Maxwell McCoy and Stella Sullivan.  They were incredible characters but together they were magnificent.  Stella Sullivan, a small local PR firm is bidding for a shot at one of the biggest companies around.  Her firm may only consist of Laci and her but she knows without a doubt that they are up to the job of bring Hurst and McCoy out of the negative spotlight.  As she is scheduled for an interview to propose her plan; she has no idea that her future is about to change when she comes face to face with Maxwell McCoy.    Maxwell McCoy is the CEO of a company that his father had built.  He came home to run it after his father’s death.  He is loyal to his family and those that he loves.  He has been a playboy most of his life.  He has no problem getting women to fall over themselves for him.  But nothing has him prepared for when he sets his eyes on Stella Sullivan.  There is some kind of pull towards her.  She is able to light up the room with her personality and charm.  Max decides that he wants to know everything about Stella.   Max decides that Stella is perfect for the project.  Plus he will be working with her closely to get this project off the ground and running.  As they spend more time together, the attraction is getting harder and harder to resist.  Stella does not want to get involved personally with Max because of her business.   Max is determined to show her that she can mix business and pleasure at the same.  Will Max’s secrets destroy the relationship that he has built with Stella?  Can she learn to believe in Max when he does not tell all of the truth?  How will Max and Stella deal with the threats that threaten to take away everything that Max cares about?   I hope Author Ahren Sanders will give us more of Max and Stella.  Also loved her best friend Laci, maybe she can get her own story.

Wouldn't recommend. Long, drawn out story, unbelievable characters and it was anti climactic. Poor proof reading drove me nuts.

I really enjoyed this book. The Hero Max was hot and sexy, could be a bit cavemanish but then turned around and said the most amazing things that you can't help but fall in love with him. The Heroine Stella was my favorite kind of leading lady, she wasn't a complete airhead! she had brains beauty and a nice set of lady balls  ;) There were so may characters and were so well written that it was easy to keep track of them all and appreciate each of them for their part in the story. The story had me and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. I will be looking into this writer and waiting to see what else she has, I would totally recommend this book.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin Stars Some people use drama as a smokescreen to protect themselves from life…and let the evil actions of broken people block their view of the world and its endless possibilities!  Stella Sullivan owns an up and coming small PR firm in Atlanta.  She leads her company with a strong work ethic, determination to succeed and a reputation of integrity. The opportunity for Stella to take the lead on a project that would project her company to another level in the business world is too much for her not to go for.  With her plan polished and her presentation ready, she walks into her meeting motivated to prove even though her company is small, it still has the best plan for the recovery of Hurst & McCoy’s failing reputation. What Stella had not expected was the powerful presence and appeal of CEO, Maxwell McCoy. From the moment their eyes meet Stella is trapped by everything that is Max and is unequivocally his!   Something is terribly wrong with his company and the indications are that it is coming from within.  Since his father’s death and the assumption of his position as CEO of Hurst & McCoy, Maxwell McCoy has been fighting to right the wrongs inside his company and to find out who is behind the damage that has done.  He needs a PR company to come in and help clean up the reputation of his company that is being threatened.  Max did not expect the instant recognition of his other half when he attended the interview with Stella Sullivan.  She was the one and he would be forever changed.  But Maxwell has secrets that may keep his HEA from happening!   Surround by uncertainties and obscure antagonists it will be a fight to repair the damage done to his company while keeping Stella by his side.  Someone wants to destroy his father’s legacy!  Will Stella and Max find their answers in time?   Hero: Maxwell McCoy 4.5 stars Heroine: Stella Sullivan 4.5 stars Plot:  4.5 stars Steam Level:  4.5 stars Cliffhanger:  No Would I recommend this book:  Yes! An unbelievably sexy male alpha and a beautiful, loyal woman find love while solving problems and dodging the bad guys! This book will not disappoint the reader that wants a sizzling read loaded with mystery and lots of action.   Would I recommend this author:  Yes! I have yet to read a book by Ms. Sanders that does not have a well-defined plot with extremely hot characters.  Cannot wait for her next book!   ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

The story of Maxwell "Max" and Stella. This is a full length book, with plenty of drama, sex, action, and intrigue. Max is the head of a 'multi-billion' dollar company, after his dad dies and leaves Max to fill the position. One of their companies, an athletic apparel company that Max helms, has come under notoriety because of the exposed sweatshop experience of the workers in South America. Stella is the head of her own, small P.R. company that bids to help Max's company get back into a positive light. When the two meet, sparks fly. He instantly hires her, much to the chagrin of the others in his company. Max is possessive, dominant, and fiercely alpha…and hot, did I mention hot?! Stella is attracted to him, but since he is known for dating super models, she feels more than a little unworthy. A relationship begins, but multiple forces are determined to make the two separate - by any means necessary. Great supporting characters! Given the epilogue, I assume there will not be another in a series. I would have liked the second couple at the end to be its own book, but I guess you never know. The book is told in the first person perspective, alternating between Max and Stella. I truly enjoyed it, and it’s a great read! I normally don't start on such long stories, but this one kept me engrossed and turning the pages until the very end!
