Betsy Lewin was born and raised in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Since recieving her B.F.A. from Pratt Institute, she has written and illustrated many books for children, includiing David Yozar's Yo, Hungry Wolf!, M.C. Turtle and Hip Hop Hare, and RAPunzel. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Ted.

"Did someone say band?" Turtle shook the ground like a passing train.
TA-TOOM-TA-TOOM TOOM, she thumped.
Tweet-tweedle-dee-deet, twittered Bird.
POP-POP-DOO-WOP, bubbled Fish.
Cha-BOP cha-BOP cha-BOP, croaked Frog.
Chew-up chew-up, chirped Cricket.
"Stop that racket!" shouted Snake. "I said snake band, not sky-skipping, hip-hopping, splish-splashing, flip-flapping, stamp-stomping turtle band."
