What Snape: A Definitive Reading will overwhelmingly achieve is instil and nurture empathy in readers. This is a must-read before you reread Harry Potter this year. If you haven’t read/finished HP series, then this book should be right after HP & The Deathly Hallows on your TBR! A lovely rerun through HP series from a different point of view because as the author puts it “Snape is always in the story”. It made me see even more how talented J.K. Rowling actually is. HP Series was meant for younger readers but it is written in such a way that belies that. If you pay close enough attention, you’ll be able to pick up more things because as an adult, you have the advantage of experience and thus be able to read situations, cause and effect, and circumstances.

Each precise assertion was backed up with careful quotes and examples. So much depth I hadn't noticed, and I don't find myself saying that often. Well worth reading. Time to go back and read the series and the play script for the umpteenth time.
