Other than the consistent quality work of Lois Ehlert I loved the addtional information she included, it adds so much more value to the book.

Some children creat a family out of snow. Includes labeled pictures of all the items they use, as well as information about how snow is formed.

The author's use of collage using real-life materials make this book extra special. It can be used as an introduction to an art activity using collage or during a class discussion about solids, liquids and melting.

Great illustrations and a simple story make for a great read aloud.

A snow story, from before the snow falls, to building a snow family, to watching the family melt. The pictures are photographs of the author's artwork and text is simple and large. The artwork is very innovative, but there is no story nor catchy language to support the pictures. The best use of this book would be as a read aloud before assigning kids to create their own snowman art, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this book in a library. It would fit just fine in a preschool or public library collection.

This book talks about making a whole family of snowpeople complete with pets. The pictures show many interesting objects to make them with, which are displayed on two pages in the back. The snowfamily melts, but looking at the back, we understand why because of a short description of how snow forms (we also see pictures of international gloves and mittens).

This is another great book by Lois Ehlert. My preschool class loved the simple text and especially loved the collage style illustrations and photos. Some of the illustrations are done vertically so it was fun for them to turn the book too.

In truth, Snowballs by Lois Ehlert---is a very simple and creative treatment of how to build your very own personal snowman... It inspires one to gather what ye may....and go out and do it. Elegant and timeless and a perfect gift.

Our copy is falling apart we have looked at it so many times. Now we are purchasing it as a gift. My daughter picked it when asked what are some favorites we should share with others. She is 10 and still loves it!
