Not what I expected. Only made it about half way. If you like spy thrillers & war stories, maybe you'll like this. I usually love this author but any romance was spoiled for me by the surrounding horror.

Caught off guard in the best of ways When I first started this book, I was delighted to get a sexy, fast-paced romance. This is the first I’ve read from the Dreamspun Desires series, so I wasn’t quite sure what I would get but I expected it to be mostly easy going and predictable to some degree. I was mistaken. Before the 30% mark, things took an unexpected direction and suddenly I got an action packed story on top of the sexiness and interesting characters. This was an interesting plot. It started out with two men, Hutch and Jude, stuck in Hutch’s cabin during a snowstorm. Jude wandered away from the chalet where he’s vacationing and ended up on Hutch’s property. From the outset Hutch is paranoid and there are plenty of insights that there is more to his story. We find out there is much more to his story. I didn’t anticipate the turns it took, and was pleasantly surprised at how complex a seemingly simple plot turned rather quickly. Unfortunately, to avoid spoilers, that’s the most insight I can give. The pacing is fast all the way through. The actions scenes are intense, detailed but concise. The tone maintains a sense of urgency once the full plot unfolds and I couldn’t read fast enough. In fact, I was listening to a “suspense” audiobook at the same time I read this novel, and I kept turning that off to go back to this story. The characters and dialogue in Snowblind were fantastic. A closed off suspicious hero paired with a man who appears to be upbeat and an open book. Their interactions were sexy and fun, and I was completely engaged in their story immediately. Given their start as a couple stuck in a cabin, this is romance steeped in lust and instalove but it worked within the confines of the story. Though the connection is a bit of a whirlwind, it never felt disingenuous and the couple did feel like a good match. I hadn’t read a book by this author prior to Snowblind. The writing was fabulous and left me eager to try more books. It was smooth but read quickly. Even when the story started off as a light tale, the detail and emotion were present. The seamless transition into a suspenseful and action packed story made it even better and showed the author’s range. The characters had depth and were absolutely vibrant together. And the epilogue was a perfect cap to the story, giving a glimpse into the future. I was completely caught off guard with how much I enjoyed every aspect of this book. I love when a book surprises me in a good way, and that’s just what Snowblind did. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*

Love, action, tough guys and romance, what more can you need? A truly outstanding read!! This a great story with very well done character development and plot lines. The story flows very well and is actually believable. So many romances are like made far TV movies, fake. This one is a cut above most romance novels. Even though I enjoy this series, some of the stories are just too contrived and rehashed. This is one of my favorites from this series and Dreamspinner Publishing. You won't go wrong reading Snowblind by Eli Easton.
