About the Author

John Barber (1947 - ) had careers in Advertising, International Banking and the Wine Industry before becoming Town Centre Manager in Hertford.

His novels do not fall into a recognized genre but would be recognized within the crime/mystery/detective/rural England/cozy/black humor/political intrigue sections of a fiction list. They are set in fictional English towns where sexual intrigue and political in-fighting is rife beneath a pleasant, small town veneer of respectability.

The plots are based on his experience of commercial life and living in small towns typical of the setting for his novels.

He has been writing since 1996 when he contributed articles to magazines on social and local history. His first published book was a non-fiction work entitled The Camden Town Murder which took a new look at a famous murder mystery of 1907. The crime has been linked to the Whitechapel murders of Jack the Ripper but this theory is rejected by John and a prime suspect named in the book which has since been reprinted in paperback and is now an eBook.

John is now retired and lives with his wife, daughter and three cats on an island in the middle of town and concentrates on his writing.
