About the Author

Stan R. Mitchell writes action-packed thrillers, which readers have compared to the works of Vince Flynn, Stephen Hunter, and Tom Clancy.

Mitchell earned a journalism degree from the University of Tennessee and spent 10+ years doing relentless, deadline-required writing in the newspaper business.

Prior to college and his days in the newspaper world learning how government works, Mitchell was a former USMC Sergeant, who earned a Combat Action Ribbon in '97 while serving in the infantry with Alpha Co., 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. (Operation Silver Wake.)

Besides this mission into harm's way, his platoon also served as the Covering Force for the elite Marine Force Recon Unit that deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable (MEUSOC). In addition to working with Marine Force Recon perfecting Direct Action missions, his platoon had the privilege to operate with the Navy Seals, training at the art of fast roping and ship takedowns.

Mitchell lives in Oak Ridge, Tenn., with his wife Danah, and in his free time, he enjoys writing action thrillers, practicing martial arts, and studying Eastern philosophy.

Sold Out by Stan R. Mitchell is terrifically riveting. As a stand alone, it doesn't get any better than this. I am immeasurably please that it is a series. I loved the characters and the development of the story line. It is clear that Mitchell is either experienced in these covert areas, or had some amazing advisers. I really felt like I was there, and learned a lot about myself and my reactions. Sure it is fiction, but conspiracy theories are everywhere. This book does a compelling job of addressing the possible realities of one of those theories. A must read for any and all mystery, crime drama lovers.

Mental health stigma and conspiracy theories meet reality in this wonderfully crafted story about former sniper Nick Woods and what happens when his past service is betrayed by an old CO with loose lips. Trying to live a "normal" life, and deal with his PTSD, Nick's world is blown apart by a betrayal that reaches into the highest levels of government. After teaming up with the reporter who broke the story - opposites in ALL ways - Nick goes after the truth, justice, and revenge. The characters step off the page wholly formed, and while point out difficult things in our society, work well as a team. You're going to love this ride!

If you’re a fan of the Stephen Hunter character Bob Lee Swagger then you should really enjoy this book. The characters are both former Marine Scout Snipers and that is where the similarities end. I went into this book expecting to love the main character so I tried really hard to get behind him but the fact is that the only honorable character in this story is his wife. These are not nice men. While I’m totally behind with the morality of hunting down the bad guys in this case I felt like Nick goes over the line in some cases and clearly seems to have some mental issue. At one point you realize that he is just not out for revenge he enjoys the kill. The bad guys are really bad guys! So I am all for eliminating them from the earth. You might be questioning why I would like the book so much when all the characters are bad guys. Well that’s the best part. This book made me have debates with myself of where I would draw the line. It was very thought provoking and got my blood pumping in both anticipation and also at the characters actions. There were points where I was talking to the book like the main character could hear me and I could influence him. I could not put this book down and finished in just two days. I had to force myself to stop reading to get enough sleep for work. As a reader that is the sign of a good book. You don’t always have to have a hero to really love a book. It reminds me of another book called A Shot Of Tequila where the characters were all bad as well but the book was great. It is all a matter of degrees with who is worse the bad guys or the good guys.

Absolutely loved this book! Very well written and totally engaging. This author has joined the ranks of Lee Child and Brad Thor. A very well crafted political thriller that is almost non stop action. A very unlikely partnership is formed that leads to a very intriguing plot. I am adding this author to my must read authors' list.. I coulldn't put the book down.

If you like action thrillers, you will love this book!  The main character, Nick Woods, reminded me of an early Alex Cross from James Patterson's books. He's a man hell bent on avenging his wife's death, but instead of a cop, Nick is a former marine sniper.  The action sequences are exciting and often unexpected.  I hope readers will get the opportunity to read more books with Nick Woods!
