The book states that you'll learn how to apply concepts, utilize tools, and combine techniques and strategies in hands-on tutorials. Sounds good, but it does not deliver. There is a lot of theory and very few tutorials. Use SolidWorks help and their tutorials. They are more informative. The author failed on several points: sloppy, poor layout, bad writing style, and too much copied information from SolidWorks tutorials.

I am really enjoying this book and it is loaded with good information. I will be getting the SolidWorks Bible 2009 also. I wanted to get this one as I am focusing on splines and surfacing right now. It is the area of SolidWorks that I am weakest. I have been using SolidWorks for 10 years and am a Certified SolidWorks Professional. The book does not have step by step but I believe this is more about theory than the how to. With surfacing it is more about what the tools are and why you use them. The book has good information about surfacing and the why, when and how to use the tools needed. It also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of each one. Great job Matt!
