"Charming, witty, and fun. There's no better read. I enjoyed every word!" Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times bestselling author
IT'S GONNA BE A WILD RIDE
Ben Noble needs to do some damage control. Fast. His heart has always been in ranching, but there's no escaping the spotlight on his high-powered political family. Now the only thing that can restore his reputation is a getaway to the fresh air of Aspen, Colorado. Not to mention that the trip gives Ben a second chance to impress a certain gorgeous mountain guide. But Paige Harper is nothing like the shy girl he remembers . . . she's so much more.
Paige is serious about Ben, too: seriously annoyed that the playboy cowboy is using her mountain for his PR. Once upon a time, she fell for Ben's aw-shucks charm, but the fairy tale didn't end happily. Paige doesn't intend to let down her guard again. But keeping their relationship all business and no pleasure may be harder than she thinks-especially if the moonlight, the Rockies, and a certain irresistible rancher have anything to say about it . . .
About the Author
Sara Richardson grew up chasing adventure in Colorado's rugged mountains. She's climbed to the top of a 14,000 foot peak at midnight, swum through Class IV rapids, completed her wilderness first-aid certification, and spent seven days at a time tromping through the wilderness with a thirty-pound backpack strapped to her shoulders.
Eventually Sara did the responsible thing and got an education in writing and journalism. After a brief stint in the corporate writing world, she stopped ignoring the voices in her head and started writing fiction. Now she uses her experience as a mountain adventure guide to write stories that incorporate adventure with romance. Still indulging her adventurous spirit, Sara lives and plays in Colorado with her saint of a husband and two young sons.

Something Like Love is such a great novel! Love the way Ben works to win Paige's heart, and love the support he gets from his sister Julia in the process! (Julia has her own story, too, in One Christmas Wish! Don't miss out on that!) This book is full of heartwarming characters as well as the flirtatious banter I love! Great chemistry between Ben and Paige with just the right amount of steam! I am such a romance novel junkie, and have read all of Sara Richardson's books. I love her writing style! She's an amazing storyteller and my new favorite author!
Paige and Ben's story had me enthralled from page one. Paige, is the black sheep of her family and feels like the only place she fits in is on Walker Ranch. She's working hard to be able to start a Special Needs Rehab program, and the last thing she needed was for Ben to walk back into her life and throw everything helter skelter. No one has been able to make Ben feel the way Paige makes him feel. There's a strong connection between them and despite all the people and issues between them he's going to fight for them to be together. Though he's a helicopter brother to his sister, who's paraplegic, Paige helps Julie show Ben she can do more than just wheel around and about. Julie is also a wonderful comic relief. She's always herself and helps Ben see when he's being a jerk. If you enjoy a outdoorsy romance with a ton of sexual tension and perfect comedic timing I highly recommend Something Like Love.
Paige Harper finds it difficult to let anyone get close to her, with good reason. She feels like an outsider within her family and deeply feels the lack of support from a family that does not understand her ambitious dream to establish a therapy program geared towards the handicapped when she could be working at the family restaurant. Throw in being burned badly when she trusted the wrong man and the walls she has built up begin to make sense. Ben Noble is the first man she came close to letting in, in a long time but that did not end so well. One year later, Ben has returned and Paige is determined to keep him at an arm’s length and keep their interactions strictly professional because the fate of her program is in the balance and a lesser than stellar performance could jeopardize it. Too bad that Ben is not on the same page as she is. Ben Noble is a charming daredevil, unapologetic about his privileged upbringing and all the perks that come with it, including his choice of attractive women but it’s the artless and outdoorsy mountain guide that has ensnared his attention for the last year. Their previous meeting ended on a low note and now that he’s returning to Aspen as part of a campaign to rebuild his political image, Ben is determined to make this second chance work for him. Unfortunately, Ben faces stiff opposition not just from Paige, but also from his mother and campaign manager who don’t think that Paige is the kind of woman that would fit in with his lifestyle as a senator. SOMETHING LIKE LOVE was fun! Lots of drama (some of it annoying), lots of smoldering passion and great characters! I love Ben! His protectiveness of and devotion to his sister Julia, his pride in his family, which was the driving force behind his decision to run for public office and his refusal to accept failure in any form. He’s relentless in his pursuit of Paige, but somehow manages to not cross over into creepy territory. He pulls out all the stops to show her that he’s in it for the long haul. I love that he respected Paige’s ambitions and was sensitive to her fears. Paige is no stranger to disappointment and her family’s lack of faith in her made me so mad, but she does not stay down for long and that is such an amazing thing about her. Her resistance to Ben was understandable just about as much as it was annoying, but I love how easily she was able to bond with Julia. I absolutely loved the simmering tension between Ben and Paige and enjoyed their journey to their happy ending, including the challenges they faced and how their thorny relationships with their families were fixed. SOMETHING LIKE LOVE is all about family, dreams and love and dealing with the challenges all three can bring. This is my first time reading Ms. Richardson’s work but it definitely won’t be my last. I have not had the pleasure of reading the previous book in this series. If I had maybe I would have learned more about the history of Ben and Paige's relationship. I enjoyed them as a couple. There was more going on underneath Paige's resistance. Paige is scared to open herself up to more hurt. Her relationships whether romantic or familial have consisted of her being labeled a disappointment and I believe she has taken those words to heart. In her mind she can't disappoint anyone else if she pushes them away. Ben would not have been my choice of her rescuer but he ended up surprising me. Something Like Love takes a look at the fragility of the heart and the power love has to mend it. I am going to read book one as soon as I can.
After being painted a less than savory character in the tabloids by his ex, Ben Noble's political career is in jeopardy, and he is scrambling to get back into the voters good graces. He would much rather live a quiet life as a rancher, but when you come from a high powered political family there are certain expectations set by your parents that you have no choice but to follow. His mother would love nothing more than for him to become a beloved senator like his late father, and follow in his political footsteps, so he puts aside his dreams to carry on the family legacy. Now he is on damage control and in need of some good press, so he devises the perfect plan to put him back in the limelight. He decides that making a family trip to Aspen, Colorado to his buddies mountain resort may just be the best way to seal his political fate... and getting to spend some more time with a certain beautiful mountain guide may just be the perfect way for him to move on from his current disastrous situation. Paige Harper has been seriously burned by love, and has no intentions of putting her fragile heart at risk again. So, she continuously dates men who she knows will never have the opportunity to gain access to her heart, or make it past second base. She focuses most of her time on her work, and has dreams of starting a program for people with disabilities at the resort, she just has to convince her boss she is up for the challenge. They have a prestigious client coming, and her boss wants to make a good impression on them, so he tells her that if she proves she can handle the challenge, he will consider her program. She has no doubt that she can handle the task, that is until she finds out their guest is the handsome rancher who broke her heart... This was my first visit to the Heart of the Rockies series, and I am really kicking myself for waiting so long to make the trip. Ms. Richardson has created some very charming characters, who drew me right into their world, and captured my heart and attention instantly. Definitely one of the best series that I have read this year! I highly recommend you acquaint yourself with the men of the Heart of the Rockies series, they are sure to leave you with a smile!!!
