Overview

Jason Grant doesn't have much, aside from a beat-up old guitar and knack for getting kicked out of foster homes. His latest placement is set to be just another in a long line of failures. Then he meets Caesar Hubbard, a handsome guy who lives down the hall. For the first time in his life, Jason wants to stay, which means learning to be part of a family, and not letting his feelings--or his actions--ruin his first real chance of finding love.

Something Like Spring introduces a new character to the Something Like... series, one with a troubled past and an equally turbulent future. Jason must traverse a winding road fraught with emotional conflicts and tough decisions... a road that might just lead to a certain couple in Austin.

About the Author

Jay Bell led a quiet life in Kansas until the day he met a handsome foreign exchange student who swept him off his feet and carried him all the way to Germany. Much to their delight, marriage awaited them when they got there. While living so distant from friends and family, Jay began writing in an effort to reconcile the mixture of devotion and alienation he felt. This resulted in a Lambda Literary Award and a film option for his best-selling novel Something Like Summer. Jay and his family have since relocated to Chicago where their adventures continue, as do those of the characters in their emotionally driven Something Like… series. Jay pens the stories and his husband provides the cover art, making them books about love, forged by love.

I've been in love with Jay Bell's Seasons series ever since the first book, which has subsequently led me to read every other book he's ever written. Good news; Something Like Spring does not disappoint in the least! Spring takes all of your favorite characters, and I mean them all, in addition to some new stars and leads you on a rollercoaster of emotions right down to the last paragraph. This book is truly a winner! The author has a knack for expressing his characters' love, not just as your typical vanilla romance but as a gut wrenching, jaw clenching, stomach churning love that doesn't pass over the emotional heartbreaks that some other authors are too wary or unable to put to words. All in all, if you haven't read Jay Bell's Seasons series than you're honestly missing out; missing out on the highs, the lows and everything in between that made this twenty year old gay boy cry his heart out over and over again!

It was great to read more about Ben and Tim and learn about this new character. One of the best M/M romance series.

Oh my..... What to say about this book? I loved it obviously. Every time I finish reading one of Jay Bell's books in this series, I just want to hug it to my chest and cry (super ugly cry) because of how great it is. It's hard for me to write a review without putting spoilers in it so I won't keep this very long. I will just say that Jay Bell ALWAYS has a way of creating a character experience that makes you feel what they are feeling. It's uncanny and unlike any other author that I've ever read. Hands down. I've read and own everything he's ever written. I love that we got to see more of Ben and Tim in this book and I loved that it wasn't cut short. This was absolutely perfect and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Jay Bell has stolen my heart, he has broken it and mended it over and over again! Something like Spring was a great addition to the "Seasons" series. I'm looking forward to what else he has in store for my heart!

I wasn't sue how this story would tie into all the others. I shouldn't have been worried. Jay, you did an awesome job. I honestly can't say which of the four Season books I liked best. Thank you for some great reads and hope for love in my own life.

Could have expanded in some areas, and omitted others. However, as with the rest of the series, agreat writing style. A good portrail of the life of gay youth.
