Something Witchy This Way Comes (Jolie Wilkins Series #5) by H. P. Mallory

A witch’s work is never done, and in bestselling author H. P. Mallory’s mesmerizing new novel, Jolie Wilkins finds that the real magic is only just beginning.

For smart and sexy witch Jolie Wilkins, being Queen of the Underworld is a royal pain. Back from a round of time travel, Jolie must now protect her realm from the sinister Lurkers—a powerful breed of half-humans bent on conquering the undead. And if there’s one thing she knows, it’s that the supernatural never go down without a fight.

At least Jolie has her soul mate (and finally official boyfriend), warlock Rand Balfour, by her side. Honorable, brave, and unbelievably handsome, Rand is everything Jolie wants in a man. So why can’t she forget the dangerously alluring vampire, Sinjin Sinclair? With her private life heating up and a battle boiling over, Jolie sets out to prove that in matters of love and war, the fairer hex has its own set of charms.

I stuck with this series because i enjoyed the first two so much. This book was disappointing. I am so tired of reading jolies inner monolog. When did she become so whiny and when did it become ok to use her talking to her self as a filler for the books??? H.P. enough with the inner thoughts!! Go back to the action and romance you are ruining your books and diappointing for fans

First off I will say I received this book as an ARC, not that it makes much difference since I still have a copy on preorder. H.P. stole my heart with her self-deprecating witch Jolie two years ago, since then I was hooked. I was quickly a member of Team Sinjin and fell madly in love with the series. I knew with this being the last book in the Jolie Wilkins Series, that it was going to be bitter-sweet. All good things must end, and in the end you want some good solid closure. I don’t like to recap plots, so I will not. There were some moments where I was happy, sad, rolled my eyes, and some moments when I was purely angry with this book. I found the inner dialog rather tiresome after a while and really wished I didn’t have to be in Jolie’s head. However I found myself finished with this book within a day and like all her other books, I just wished there had been more. I had wished for an Epilogue a few years or so in the future, just a few pages to check back in on all my favorite characters, but alas, it just ends. Now knowing some authors love a spin off, if is not impossible to revise Jolie’s world through different eyes. All and all it is an end to a series and while I feel something tied up too easily, and others not so well, I was satisfied with this book. I am sad it is over, but I look forward to other works by Mallory.

I've been a fan of H.p. for a long time now and have always enjoyed her books. The past two Jolie books have been disappointing to say the least. Gone are the fun wittiness of the character only to be replaced by some whiney female that I got tired of listening to. Ever since H.p. became a published auther i feel her writing has suffered. It lacks to say the least. I kind of wish she would stop writing in the first person as well. Her obvious goal here was to set up for her spinoff series...when her focus should have been elsewhere...Jolie and Rand desereved as much.

I love the story line of this series but find that this book is lacking in substance. It seemed to be a lot of the previous books information and little bits of new information at the end. The interesting part could have been provided in a mere 50 pages.

I love her stuff. This series and the Dulcie O'Neil series are great. Both are funny, sexy and just well written.

I read this last book just to finish the series although the previos book way way too wordy. The re-capping of every last event in both books was monotinous and a tad insulting (i can recall from the first 20 reminders that were added). And the inner monologue was tedious and boring. I skimmed through half of this book but dont actually feel as if i missed anything. Series ended with too many loose ends. Sorry i wasted the money. Please go back to how you used to write if you want a continued customer.

This book was too short and lacked. There was too much lefted unsaid. Bella? The baby? Her sister? And what about the Lurkers? More could have been given for the fullfilment of the book and purchase of.

H.P.Mallory has done it again. The books in this series are great. Fast paced, witty, and just the right amount of trouble without getting boring or obnoxiuos. I can't wait for the next book. In fact I just pre ordered it. :-)

I loved and enjoyed reading the amazing & captivating Jolie Wilkins #5 book in the series by the phenomenally talented author, H.P. Mallory. Read the highly recommended, beautifully written love story of Jolie and Rand.

This book was waaay too short and rushed. Too much inner monologue. Loved the other books leading up to this one, but I am extremely disappointed. I paid more for this book than the others and it was by far the worst and shortest! It was like the author was in a hurry to be done with it. Huge let down

was a little disappointed with Jolie having a twin sister. I kept thinking while she was captured where is Sinjin he should know where she is and then there he was! These are good reads!

I was ready to tear my hair out listening to Jolie's inner dialogue--want some cheese with that whine?? The last two books of the series was so off the mark from the previous books. What happened? Jolie was so wishy-washy about the whole Sinjin deal. It was like she was two separate personalities. She's totally in love and wants to spend the rest of her life with one and then she realizes that she has always loved another. Really???? This was such a huge letdown! I' m not sure about investing in a spin off. I sincerely hope that Ms. Mallory's Dulcie series does not go the way that this series descended to as I truly enjoy that series. The last two Jolie books were so far off from wonderful beginning books I have to wonder if somebody else wrote them. Ms Mallory if you are out there PLEASE come back!!!!

Jolie's inner angst is as bad as bella swann. This book pretty much killed my desire to read anymore of this author. The writing style went from the cutesy of the other books to vapid and boring. Don't waste your $$ unless you really have to know what happens next.

Why can't we have a strong woman!!! I am SO tired of the whimpy and do whatever Rand says and thinks Jolie! That guy got on my last nerve! When they bonded in the last book it took me a month to decide if I would buy this last one...I hoped against hope she would be written stronger and be able to make a darn decision as to which man treated her as a woman and which treated her like a little girl! Come on already!!

The story and the premise is great. A fresh new take on the witch /vampire/elemental idea. My one and only problem is that in all of the books fleeing the first one, one third of the story is lost to retelling of the action from the preceding novels. The stories are worth reading for sure and readers who like the story will figure out the proper order and find a way to understand the story and characters without the author losing valuable time and energy to retell what's already been told.
