Overview

The Son of Neptune (The Heroes of Olympus Series #2) by Rick Riordan

Percy is confused. When he awoke after his long sleep, he didn't know much more than his name. His brain-fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight. Somehow Percy managed to make it to the camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he had to continually kill monsters that, annoyingly, would not stay dead. But the camp doesn't ring any bells with him.

Hazel is supposed to be dead. When she lived before, she didn't do a very good job of it. When the Voice took over her mother and commanded Hazel to use her "gift" for an evil purpose, Hazel couldn't say no. Now, because of her mistake, the future of the world is at risk.

Frank is a klutz. His grandmother claims he is descended from ancient heroes, but he doesn't even know who his father is. He keeps hoping Apollo will claim him, because the only thing he is good at is archery. His big and bulky physique makes him feel like a clumsy ox, especially in front of Hazel, his closest friend at camp. He trusts her completely-enough, even, to share the secret he holds close to his heart.

Beginning at the "other" camp for half-bloods and extending as far north as the land beyond the gods, this breathtaking second installment in the Heroes of Olympus series introduces new demigods, revives fearsome monsters, and features other remarkable creatures, all of whom are destined to play a part in the most important quest of all: the Prophecy of Seven.

I absolutely can not wait for this book to come out. The Lost Hero was phenomenal as was Rick's other series'. I expect this book will live up to the expectations if not going higher.

Riordan has brought percy jackson back so successfully. The prophesy is just bone chilling ( in fact, ive memorized it) frank and hazel are great characters and reyna, octavion, ella, and phineas make for a halarious and witty book. Cant wait for the mark of athena and the final book in the kane chronicles ( which you should also read ). This book is a for sure read and is suspensefull epic witty funny smart sappy ( as in romantic) and just plain exciting. If you decide to read this book you should definitely read the percy jackson books and the lost hero. If youve alreafy read this, id suggest the Kane Chronicles, Fablehaven, and Leven Thumps.

I had just started reading the Percy Jackson series this summer because my nephew wanted to read a series with me. I was hooked from the beginning always been interested in Greek and Roman mythology. I love the fact that he stayed true to Roman way of life and then also with Greek way of life. How he showed the difference between the two camps with Greek demigods stay in there house according the god parent and how Romans stayed in barracks of coherts of who would claim them. How the Romans fought the way the Romans fought in formations. Overall the book was great minus the eReaders grammatical errors.

Quick summary: Taking off from the Lost Hero we are reunited with Percy Jackson along with some new friends. Percy has been missing and lost his memory. He only remembers one person. Annabeth, his girlfriend. Percy meets a new camp for Roman demigods called Camp Jupiter and meets Frank (son of Mars) and Hazel (daughter of Pluto) and go on a quest and defeat a giant. Overall it's AWESOME! 5 stars for sure! If you have read with book, (and if you haven't yet then you might agree with me) Percy and Jason are a lot alike. Like there leadership skills and both being a son of two of the most powerfull gods. It's almost as if they could be brothers. Oh no! I smell a fanfiction! Don't do that please! Anyway, out of the new charecters I think that Frank and Hazel were all right. I REALLY miss Leo! He's so funny and cute! Anyway, (got a little sidetracked. Sorry) there are some things I would like to discuss. Like some things that REALLY suprised me. For example: the fact that Percy can see a relationship and by that I mean two people flirting and can tell that those two really like eachother. And Percy giving relationship advice?! (You suprised? Be suprised.) Percy is a really great driver! When your trying to escape a bunch of ogres. :/ Another thing that got me thinking was the part was when Percy git his mark and Octavian said," I hope that me hurt." Whoa! Crazy person! Don't know why but that was one of my favorite lines. Probably because it was just so utterly evil. Hmm. But out of all, my favorite part was when they were ar the cafe and Percy saw a couple holding hands while watching there child play and chase birds and Percy started thinking that thag could be him and Annabeth someday. I was all, " Awww!!!! That's so sweet!" I also loved how there are so many love triangles. And I usually don't really care for them. But Riodan really knows how to make them. He does them right! Authors take note! I hope that at one point in the Mark of Athena there is an Annabeth vs Reyna showdown! ANNABETH VS REYNA!!! Sorry. Just had a creepy fangirl moment. I know. Weird. And the reason I feel this way is becuase they clash so badly! Becuase they are si much a like! And if either Percy or Annabeth drop the "L" wird in the next book i'm gonna totally FREAK! Anyways, love the book. Recommend it to anybody eho is interested in this type of book.

I'm not one to write a good review for a book that isn't good, just because I love the series. I really did LOVE this book. The Son of Neptune is a little bit slow in the beginning, just because you have to get used to the whole 'Roman Camp' thing. But it seriously picks up from there. If you read The Lost Hero and wasn't impressed, don't let that spoil this book! It is amazing! Certain parts will just make you jump through the roof! The main characters Frank Zhang, Hazel Levesque and Percy Jackson (OF COURSE!!!) are all extremely enjoyable and original characters. The story is constantly supplied with a light humor (from our protagonist Percy Jackson himself!) to keep the reader engaged. It will not loose your attention! With all of the new additions and traditions of the Romans, take time to read it and understand it. Otherwise you may regret it in later books. This book is genuinly amazing. However, BE WARNED! This book will TORTURE you!!! I got so upset i threw the book across the room! Despite that (unfortunate) fact, buy this book! You won't regret it! p.s Rick Riordan doesn't know the meaning of mercy, He has decided to torture his fans. But hey, I still love the books!

I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Riordan's writing has improved greatly over time and The Son of Neptune is one of his best works to date. The story follows Percy Jackson in his attempts to integrate himself into Camp Jupiter, the Roman equivalent of Camp Half-Blood. This story fills in many of the gaps left by The Lost Hero and leaves off at a perfect spot for the next book to pick up. I will definitely read the next book!

I LOVED this book a lot! The more i read Riordan's books the more i want to be a half-blood. While reading every one of his books i feel what the charecter is fealing at the momemt. This book had so many parts where i would be on the edgde of my seat, literaly i almost fell of my reading chair! I have read each one of Riordan's books and i agree that there are some things that aren't realy that good in his books, but i am not here to critizize but to say good things. I realy look forward to reading every new book of his. I looking very forward to read The House of Hades when it comes out in a few months. I have already read The Mark of Athena and that book is also great. I myself am also sort of am a writer and hope to be as good as a wirter as Riordan. I have also heard that he is strating a new sieries based on the gids in The Lord of The Rings. Riordan was a big fan of that book when he was little i heard. Every day after reading every chapter of his i imagine my self as a half-blood going on a quest. My little sister just started reading the first book tonignt and she thinks that every thing in that book is real. I realy whish it was. (I should seriously stop chating). If you are ever hesitating on getting one of Riordan's books DON'T! Think only once and get it.

If you like Percy Jackson, you will absolutely love this sequal to Lost Hero. This is a wonderful book about Percy and his new friends from a roman camp. It really fills you in on what was going on with Percy and his friends when the other book tells about what is happening with Jason and his new Camp Half Blood friends. This is one of the best and highly reccomended books

I was skeptical at the first Heroes of Olympus novel, thinking they wouldn't live up to Riordan's original series, but the second book changed my mind. Fast paced, good character development and a wonderful mix of the Greek and Roman mythology, Riordan's second Olympian series lives up to expectations. Riordan has caught on to the fact that older readers have followed Percy rather than younger readers picking the books up, and aimed he content of this series at slightly older kids in response. Any age will enjoy either series, though-highly recommend them.
